A native to the eastern US, swamp marigolds will add lots of bright blooms to the late summer and early fall garden. The plants thrive in full sun and wetter soils. Dozens of yellow blooms per plant attract many beneficial insects to the garden and the plant is a host for the caterpillar of the Dainty Sulphur butterfly. 

Origin: We wild harvested the parent seed of our swamp marigolds in the flood plain of the Swannanoa River.

Germination rate: 91% - tested 10/17/24

Planting Instructions: Seeds germinate best after a period of cold-stratification. We recommend sowing the seeds just below the surface in a moist, sunny location in fall or several weeks before your last frost in late winter or early spring. Cold-stratification can also be done manually by placing the seeds on a damp paper towel in a plastic bag and storing in the refrigerator for 30 days before planting.
