Dracaena Marginata Sunray - Madagascar Dragon Tree with Basket
The Dracaena Marginata Sunray is a low-maintenance indoor plant featuring long, narrow leaves with vibrant green and yellow stripes. The variegated foliage contrasts beautifully with the plant's dark trunk, creating an impressive yet minimalist appearance. Standing 130-150cm tall, this floor plant arrives in a Ø24cm basket, ready to enhance your living space.
Plant Characteristics
This Madagascar dragon tree variety features upright growth with sword-like leaves that display striking yellow and green variegation. The Sunray cultivar is particularly valued for its bright, cheerful coloring that adds a tropical touch to interiors. The plant's slender form makes it ideal for corners, behind furniture, or as a standalone statement piece.
Light and Placement
Place your Dracaena Marginata Sunray in a bright spot with indirect sunlight. The plant thrives near north or east-facing windows, or several feet away from south or west-facing windows. Direct sun may discolor the vibrant yellow stripes on the leaves. This dragon tree tolerates lower light conditions but maintains its best coloring and growth rate in bright, filtered light.
Watering Requirements
The Dracaena Marginata Sunray requires minimal watering. Allow the top layer of soil to dry out completely before watering again, typically once a week. This drought-tolerant plant stores water in its trunk, making it forgiving if you occasionally forget to water. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot. Brown leaf tips may indicate low humidity, while yellow leaves suggest too much water.
Air-Purifying Benefits
NASA recognizes the Dracaena Marginata as an excellent air-purifying houseplant. It effectively removes formaldehyde, benzene, trichloroethylene, and carbon monoxide from indoor environments, making it ideal for homes and offices.
Care and Maintenance
This easy-care plant adapts to typical indoor temperatures between 18-24°C. Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertilizer. The plant grows slowly, reaching its mature height over several years. Remove dead lower leaves as they naturally drop - this is normal growth behavior that encourages new foliage.
Shipping and Packaging
We pack your Dracaena Marginata Sunray in a sturdy box designed specifically for indoor plants. The plant and soil are protected by a protective sleeve, and the houseplant is secured in the box to ensure it arrives fresh, healthy, and undamaged at your door.
Important Note: This plant contains compounds that are toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets.
