Yellow trout lily (Erythronium americanum) is a beloved native spring ephemeral prized for its nodding yellow flowers and beautifully mottled green and bronze foliage. One of the first plants to bloom in early spring, this woodland ephemeral naturalizes gracefully in shade gardens, woodland borders, and native plant landscapes. Erythronium americanum thrives in partial to full shade with moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Perfect for pollinator gardens, it attracts early-season bees while remaining deer resistant and low maintenance. Cold-hardy and ideal for naturalized plantings, trout lily creates a stunning carpet of spring color beneath trees and shrubs.

Andrena miner bees, native pollinators, need trout lilies and others in the genus Erythronium to do their job of pollinating native woodland bulbs and other flowering plants.

Not only does it work great the kids love it and it saves me so much time and headache at night when everybody should be in bed!
