In early spring, the 'Royal Star' magnolia blooms with hundreds of 4" long double-white star-shaped fragrant flowers. It may be utilized as a specimen tree in a sunny location or in a somewhat shaded forest environment. 'Royal Star' is classified as a small tree or big shrub, growing slowly to around 10 feet tall and 15 feet broad. This gorgeous deciduous Japanese magnolia displays its petals before the leaves appear in the spring. 'Royal Star' is usually limbed up as a multi-trunk tree, which has a more natural, open appearance than a formal single trunk tree. It is equally at home in a traditional Japanese garden, a cottage garden, or a typical suburban setting.
