Introduce a touch of minimalist elegance and architectural flair to your indoor space with Sansevieria cylindrica, widely known as the African Spear Plant or Cylindrical Snake Plant. This striking succulent features tall, rigid, cylindrical leaves that grow upright, resembling slender spears. Often a deep green, sometimes with subtle horizontal banding, these distinctive leaves create a modern, sculptural look that complements contemporary interiors. Exceptionally tough and famously forgiving, the African Spear Plant is an ideal choice for both seasoned plant enthusiasts and those new to indoor gardening, thriving on a bit of neglect.

Plant Placement Area:

  • Bright, indirect light: Thrives in bright, filtered sunlight, such as near an east or west-facing window. While it can adapt to lower light conditions, bright indirect light encourages the best growth and color.

  • Warmth and stable temperatures: Prefers average room temperatures between 18-35°C (65-95°F). Avoid cold drafts or temperatures below 10°C (50°F).

  • Versatile positioning: Its upright, narrow form makes it perfect for tight spots, empty corners, desks, or as a floor plant as it matures.

  • Good air circulation: Benefits from good airflow, but is generally not overly sensitive to humidity levels.

Benefits:

  • Striking architectural form: Its unique, upright cylindrical leaves create a modern and sculptural statement.

  • Exceptional air purifier: Like other Sansevieria, it excels at filtering common indoor air toxins, including formaldehyde, benzene, xylene, and trichloroethylene.

  • Nighttime oxygen producer: Uniquely converts carbon dioxide into oxygen at night, making it an excellent plant for bedrooms to improve air quality while you sleep.

  • Extremely low maintenance: Highly drought-tolerant and can withstand periods of neglect, making it ideal for busy individuals or beginners.

  • Drought tolerant: Stores water in its thick leaves, requiring infrequent watering.

Watering Tips:

  • Allow soil to dry completely between waterings: This is the most crucial rule. Overwatering is the primary cause of issues like root rot. Feel the top few inches of soil; if it's completely dry, then water thoroughly.

  • Water sparingly in winter: During the cooler, darker months, the plant's growth slows, and it requires significantly less water. You may only need to water once a month or less.

  • Ensure excellent drainage: Always use a pot with drainage holes and a well-draining succulent or cactus potting mix. Never let the plant sit in standing water.

  • Water at the base: Aim to water the soil directly, avoiding getting water directly into the center of the rosette, especially if you have a variety that forms a tight cup, as this can lead to rot.

Care Tips:

  • Well-draining potting mix: Use a specialized succulent or cactus mix, or create your own by adding perlite or coarse sand to regular potting soil to ensure sharp drainage.

  • Fertilize sparingly: Feed with a diluted liquid succulent fertilizer once a month during the spring and summer growing season. Avoid fertilizing in autumn and winter.

  • Dust leaves: Occasionally wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and allow the plant to photosynthesize effectively.

  • Pruning: Only prune to remove any damaged, yellowing, or browning leaves at their base using clean, sharp scissors.

  • Repot sparingly: Sansevieria prefer to be somewhat root-bound. Repot only every 2-5 years, or when the roots are clearly circling the pot, into a pot only slightly larger.

  • Braiding (optional): Some Sansevieria cylindrica are sold with their leaves braided. Ensure the braids are not too tight to allow the leaves to continue growing.

Light Level:

  • Bright Indirect Light: Ideal for robust growth, vibrant color, and overall health.

  • Tolerates Low Light: Extremely adaptable and can survive in surprisingly low light conditions, but growth will be slower, and variegation may be less pronounced.

  • Avoid Harsh Direct Sun: Intense, prolonged direct sunlight can scorch or bleach the leaves.

Toxicity:

  • Toxic to pets: Contains saponins which can cause mild to moderate gastrointestinal upset (drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite, lethargy) if ingested by cats and dogs. Keep out of reach of pets.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

ABSOLUTELY A MUST for Omegaverse Girls!!!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Jillian West and her books!!! I’m so happy I already bought book two and now I have to buy the others for the Assurance Security series!! Not gonna lie Val kind of annoyed me at the beginning but she grew on me!! Her men are chef’s kisses!!! Holt annoys me some but I can let it slide. I already bought part two so I’m going to be reading that in between work phone calls!!!! DON’T TELL MY BOSS 😂😂😂😂

Baby bumps and bodyguards
Format: Kindle
Dark, emotional, and unexpectedly tender, Not Ready is an omegaverse romance that delivers found family feels, fierce protectiveness, and a very pregnant heroine who refuses to break. Vale’s on the run from a stalker, but lands in the arms of three private security alphas, cue the swoony tension, fake marriage twist, and slow-burn heat. It’s a little gritty, a little soft, and a whole lot addictive. If you love protective alphas, high stakes, and heroines with quiet strength, this one’s a must-read.

Strong Omegaverse Comfort and a Attention Grabbing Plot
Format: Kindle
Jillian West never misses when it comes to Omegaverse, and Not Ready is no exception. This story was the perfect blend of cozy comfort and emotional depth while still delivering a strong plot. Vale is such a powerful heroine, she is strong, capable, and determined but I love that she still allows her pack to love and take care of her. It’s that balance of independence and vulnerability that makes her so relatable. The relationship dynamics were amazing: Bishop is steadfast and completely head over heels, Mercy is skeptical but protective in his own way, and Holt is the hesitant one whose slow fall is so satisfying to watch unfold. The romance hits that sweet spot between insta-love and cautious build, keeping me hooked the entire way through. And that ending. Oh my god, the cliffhanger! I need the next book in this duet immediately.
