Around our company, we often just call this bulb, the "Tropical Giant." Unlike other varieties of Hymenocallis, this bulb tends to be the most versatile and cold hardy. Often called a spider lily along the Gulf Regions of the Southern United States, the foliage is long and strong, with a crisp dark green color. The foliage continues to look nice through the summer, making it a favorite accent plant used by landscapers in public gardens (i.e. take a walk along the River Walk in San Antonio and you'll see plenty of them a short distance from the Alamo). In the summer, around late June and July, spidery white blooms appear in an extremely prolific manner. During the height of their bloom they appear like solid balls of white from a distance. The foliage will get tall, reaching as high as 3-4 feet, and mixes well with other perennials like esperanza, salvia, lantana, fall blooming asters, malvaviscus, etc.

As one of the most cold hardy varieties for this semi-tropical plant, they are known for multiplying quickly and surviving freezing temperatures. On the other hand, I've seen them on the Yucatan Peninsula and across Belize where they grow with reckless abandon and never go dormant. In our Zone 8, where we recently reached 3 degrees F., a little mulch is always a good idea. The foliage will die back with the first frost, but the bulbs are fine. This is a great opportunity to clean around the beds, cut back your other perennials, and plant plenty of daffodils, snowflakes, and other spring blooming bulbs that will carry your garden through the winter months.

The lush foliage in the summer time is a great home for anoles, some of our favorite lizard friends.

The first sunscreen that worked for my skin
I usually avoid wearing sunscreen because most of the ones I’ve tried make me break out. I have acne-prone skin, so finding a sunscreen that doesn’t clog my pores or cause new blemishes has always been a challenge. After trying Good Molecules Moisturizing Rich Sunscreen SPF 30, I was pleasantly surprised. The formula feels moisturizing without being overly greasy, and it absorbs nicely into my skin. It leaves my face feeling hydrated and comfortable throughout the day. Most importantly, I’ve been using it regularly and have not experienced the breakouts that I normally get from sunscreen. That alone makes this product a winner for me. I also like that it doesn’t have a strong fragrance and doesn’t leave my skin feeling heavy. While it has a richer texture than some sunscreens, it still wears well under makeup and doesn’t pill on my skin. The SPF 30 mineral protection gives me peace of mind knowing I’m protecting my skin from sun damage without sacrificing my skin’s overall appearance and health. If you’ve struggled to find a sunscreen that won’t trigger breakouts, I definitely recommend giving this one a try. Overall, I’m very impressed with this sunscreen and will continue repurchasing it. It’s one of the few sunscreens I’ve found that provides good sun protection while being gentle on my acne-prone skin. Rating: 5/5 stars.

Good facial sunscreen
I absolutely love the good molecules brand. This brand helps me keep my skin glowing and clear throughout all seasons especially since where I live has up and down weather. This sunscreen is super moisturizing. However coming from someone who’s black this does leave a minor white cast

Reapplication is important
I was looking for a moisturizing sunscreen I could wear on days when I’m not wearing makeup, mainly just to protect my face from sunburn while still keeping my skin hydrated. This one caught my attention because it’s a mineral sunscreen and also advertised as moisturizing. One of the things I really like is the price point. Compared to other similar sunscreens, this moisturizer is affordable and feels like a good value for daily use. It also gives me peace of mind knowing it is made without certain harsh or harmful chemicals, which was a big plus for me when choosing a sunscreen for my face. The texture is also decent—it feels more like a lightweight moisturizer than a heavy sunscreen, so it’s comfortable for everyday wear. One downside for me: I didn’t see anywhere in the product description that clearly emphasizes the need to reapply every 2 hours, which is standard for sunscreen but still something I wish was more obvious upfront. Realistically, most people don’t want to keep reapplying moisturizer throughout the day, especially when you’re just running errands or staying indoors near windows. Overall: It’s a good budget-friendly mineral sunscreen for daily use, especially if you’re looking for something simple and moisturizing. Just be aware that like all sunscreens, consistent reapplication is important for full protection.

Highly recommend
Great value and works well. Good molecules is an affordable brand that uses fewer harmful chemicals and I am a believer in this product. The sunscreen works well and does not leave a greasy residue.
