Growing up to 24 inches tall, this perennial displays daisy-like purple blooms with slender petals and distinctive central cones that attract bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects. Its roots are typically harvested after two or more years for herbal use, while the flowers add vibrant color and biodiversity to organic landscapes. Well-suited to wildflower meadows, dry gardens, and herbal beds, this species adds function as well as beauty to your growing space.
For best results, sow seeds in fall or early spring outdoors to allow natural cold stratification. Alternatively, chill seeds in a moist environment for 30 to 90 days before sowing in warm soil.
