Native to the tropical rainforests of Colombia, Venezuela, and northern Brazil in South America, Episcia cupreata is a creeping member of the Gesneriaceae family renowned for its spectacular foliage and vibrant flowers. The cultivar 'Pink Acajou' is particularly prized among terrarium and vivarium growers for its richly colored leaves, compact spreading habit, and ability to create striking carpets of tropical foliage beneath larger plants.

In nature, Episcia cupreata grows along humid rainforest floors where filtered light, warm temperatures, and constant moisture support lush understory vegetation. Unlike many upright tropical plants, Episcias spread through runners similar to strawberry plants, gradually forming interconnected colonies that expand across suitable surfaces. This growth strategy makes them exceptionally useful in vivarium design, where they can fill open areas and create a mature, established appearance over time.

The foliage of 'Pink Acajou' is the primary attraction. Leaves typically display deep bronze, mahogany, copper, and burgundy tones accented by metallic highlights and contrasting venation. Depending on lighting and growing conditions, the foliage can appear almost iridescent, with subtle color shifts visible across the leaf surface. The richly colored leaves provide a dramatic contrast to mosses, Selaginella, ferns, and other green tropical plants commonly used in vivarium construction.

Like many Gesneriads, Episcia cupreata also produces attractive tubular flowers. Bright red to scarlet blooms emerge above the foliage and provide an additional layer of interest throughout the growing season. Hummingbirds pollinate many Episcia species in the wild, and the flower shape reflects this evolutionary relationship.

One of the reasons Episcias have become increasingly popular in vivarium culture is their ability to thrive under conditions that challenge many traditional houseplants. High humidity, warm temperatures, and filtered light closely mimic their natural rainforest habitat and often result in vigorous growth and exceptional foliage coloration.

The species performs best in bright indirect light where leaf coloration can fully develop without risking scorch. Too little light may reduce coloration intensity and slow growth, while harsh direct exposure can damage the delicate foliage. Within terrariums and vivariums, placement beneath canopy plants or alongside moss-covered hardscape often produces excellent results.

A moisture-retentive but airy substrate is ideal. Fine bark, tree fern fiber, sphagnum moss, leaf litter, and other organic components help replicate the rich forest-floor conditions where the species naturally occurs. The root zone should remain consistently moist but never waterlogged.

Humidity between 70–100% generally produces the most attractive growth. Under stable conditions, runners establish readily and can gradually create dense colonies that spill over cork bark, driftwood, background ledges, and planting terraces. This spreading habit makes 'Pink Acajou' particularly valuable for creating layered rainforest scenes and softening transitions between hardscape elements.

Within vivarium plantings, Episcia cupreata 'Pink Acajou' pairs exceptionally well with miniature orchids, Marcgravia, Peperomia, Selaginella, Begonias, and tropical mosses. Its colorful foliage helps break up expanses of green while maintaining a natural rainforest appearance. The combination of metallic leaves, compact growth, and occasional flowering makes it one of the most rewarding Gesneriads for enclosed tropical environments.

For hobbyists seeking a colorful understory plant that combines ornamental foliage, manageable growth, and strong terrarium performance, Episcia cupreata 'Pink Acajou' remains one of the finest choices available.

A Nice Cover For A Decent Price.
I like this product because it protects the remote and makes it easier to keep track of it. I’d recommend buying it if you have kids or think the remote is too fragile feeling. Note: you only get one cover, not three like the picture seems to suggest.

Soft. Flexible. Easy to grab.
Pros: Soft. Durable. Fits. Cons: String durability. This silicone material is soft to the touch and feels great. It is very flexible as well and I expect it to last a long time. The design doesn’t interfere with the touchpad at all when trying to navigate and fast forward or fast reverse. There are top and bottom bumps with extra material that create this gap underneath. It’s such a minor detail but makes grabbing the remote so easy versus having it completely flat. There are cut outs for charging port, IR, Apple logo, and what I think is the microphone. It comes with a sling that gets attached to the cover. It’s an ok sling as over time it did fall apart for me. Granted we don’t really use the string much. You can hang it with the accessory it came with though. We just toss it around. Overall, this is a great case for your remote.

Looks like a new remote
Needed something to cover and also protect the remote after dropping it so many times that it was chipped around edge. This looks great and the remote is easier to find and looks like brand new.
