Discover Tillandsia aeranthos, a captivating species that brings a touch of South American canopies to your home.

Origin: Native to southern Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina
Distinctive traits: Bright green, spiky rosette with striking blue-purple flowers
Habitat: Epiphytic, growing from sea level to several hundred meters elevation

 Size Inches
Small 1"-2"
Medium 2"-3"
Large 3"-4"

Key features:

  • Vivid coloration: Bright lime-green foliage that stands out in any display
  • Compact form: Tightly arranged leaves forming an attractive, spiky rosette
  • Stunning blooms: Produces eye-catching blue-purple flowers with contrasting red bracts
  • Adaptable nature: Thrives in a variety of environments, from near sea level to higher altitudes
  • Natural clustering: Often found growing in small groups, perfect for creating airplant colonies

Appearance: T. aeranthos forms a symmetrical rosette of stiff, outward-pointing leaves. The foliage exhibits a vibrant lime-green color, creating a striking visual impact. When in bloom, it produces a compact inflorescence featuring vivid blue-purple flowers emerging from red bracts, offering a beautiful contrast to the green foliage.

Collector's Note: While similar in appearance to T. bergeri, T. aeranthos is distinguished by its unique flowering characteristics. In its natural habitat, it shows a preference for mature tipa trees (Tipuana tipu), often forming small clusters of plants—a trait that can be replicated in cultivation for stunning displays.

Care tip: Provide bright, indirect light to maintain its vibrant green color. Water 2-3 times a week by misting thoroughly or soaking for 20-30 minutes, ensuring the plant dries completely within 4 hours. Good air circulation is essential to mimic its natural epiphytic growing conditions.

Ideal for:

  • Collectors seeking to recreate South American airplant habitats
  • Those who appreciate plants with bold, structural forms
  • Enthusiasts looking to create clustered Tillandsia displays
  • Designers wanting to add pops of bright green to their plant arrangements

Display recommendation: The spiky form of T. aeranthos makes it perfect for standalone displays or as part of grouped arrangements. Consider mounting several specimens on a piece of driftwood or cork bark to recreate its natural clustering habit. Its bright green color also makes it an excellent contrast piece when paired with silver-leaved Tillandsia species.

Bring a piece of South American canopies into your space with Tillandsia aeranthos. Experience the joy of nurturing this adaptable and visually striking species, and anticipate the breathtaking display when its blue-purple blooms emerge, adding a splash of exotic color to your airplant collection.

Uses same battery as the rest of my equipment
Size: 8" Edger New
Since I already have and like the Greenworks mower, string trimmer and blower it only made sense to get the edger. Even better that I didn’t need to buy more batteries. I tried another name brand electric edger and returned it for not holding a charge. This one works great! There’s charge left in the battery after everything has been edged. I was concerned how easy it would be to control but fell in love with it first time I used it. To use just pop the battery in, flip the thumb lever, squeeze and edge. Not as noisy as gas powered equipment and no cords to pull. Feels sturdy in my hands and a good weight that’s enough to not pop up if it hits something but not too much to be heavy to carry back to the shed.

First use was great!
I've used it just the one time today. I had previously "edged" with a string weedwhacker, so while the grass was cut back some, there wasn't a trench dug out. I did a gentle push and pull, taking on about 18" at a time to get a new trench dug next to the sidewalk edge. It did a great job! The entire unit was much heavier and sturdy looking than I was afraid it would be for the price, so pleasantly surprised. Assembly wasn't complicated, but it did take two of us to hold it steady because getting the screws to seat in the square hole and not have the cord in the way was a bit tricky. I'm a 70+ lady, not large and not athletic, but I was able to handle this edger with ease. Now, to see how long it lasts!

Great Yard Helper!
So easy to use and affordable! This edger is a great time saver, easy to operate, and relatively easy to adjust although you may need a pliers or screwdriver to help with the adjustment levels, but its not difficult. I would have given this 5 stars but just one thing that is a sticking point for me is I wish this had its own stand or hanger because of its odd shape, it doesn't necessarily balance upright too well. It’s long and the guide wheel in the front sticks out. So, it is always awkward to get it tidy in the garage when not in use. Now maybe this is what it's like for landscapers…I’m not a professional. Just a homeowner doing my own upkeep. With what this costs, I’ll figure it out, and is worth the money.
