Product Name: Swal Harmetry Herbicide
Technical Name: Glufosinate Ammonium 50% WG
Product Type: Herbicide
Brand Name: SWAL
Product Overview:
SWAL Harmetry is a non-selective, post-emergence herbicide based on Glufosinate Ammonium 50% WG (Water-dispersible granules). It is used primarily on non-crop or fallow lands to control a wide spectrum of grasses, broadleaf weeds, and sedges. It works by inhibiting the enzyme glutamine synthetase inside plant tissues, causing toxic accumulation of ammonia and rapid weed kill after foliar contact.
Summary:
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Active Ingredient | Glufosinate Ammonium 50% WG |
| Mode of Action | Inhibits glutamine synthetase → ammonia accumulation → weed death |
| Target Weeds | Grassy weeds, broadleaf weeds, sedges (e.g., Nut Sedge) |
| Dose | 400 g per acre |
| Application | Post-emergence, foliar spray |
| Suitable Area | Non-crop land; select use in tolerant crops with precautions |
| Safety | Avoid drift; use PPE; avoid rain immediately after application |
Benefits:
- Broad-spectrum control – Effectively kills grasses, broadleaf weeds, and sedges including tough weeds like Cyperus rotundus and Cynodon dactylon.
- Fast knock-down action – Visible weed control within a few days after spray.
- Post-emergent & non-selective – Works on weeds after they have emerged, giving flexibility in timing.
- No residual soil activity – Breaks down quickly in soil, making it relatively safe for next crops in rotation.
- Useful in non-crop areas – Ideal for managing weeds in fallow land, bunds, and around plantation zones where weed pressure is high.
-
Granule formulation (WG) – Easy to handle, measure, and mix with water, reducing dust exposure compared to older formulations.
