Chlorophytum comosum 'Ocean' in Kokodama

In this Kokodama version, Chlorophytum comosum 'Ocean' grows in a wrapped root ball instead of a standard pot. The plant keeps the same short, broad green leaves with cream margins, but watering is judged by the ball rather than by a pot of substrate.

The outside of a Kokodama ball dries first. The centre can stay moist for longer, so the best check is weight: a dry ball feels much lighter than one that still holds water inside.

Ocean spider plant in a wrapped root ball

  • Compact spider plant grown in Kokodama format
  • Short green leaves with cream margins
  • Dense rosette growth while young
  • Can hang or sit in a holder where the ball drains after watering
  • Small white flowers and plantlets possible on mature stems
  • Non-toxic to cats and dogs

Spider plant Kokodama background

Chlorophytum comosum is native across parts of tropical Africa into southern Africa. It grows with strap-shaped leaves, fleshy roots and plantlet-producing stems.

'Ocean' is the compact cream-edged cultivar. Kokodama is the wrapped root-ball format.

Kokodama spider plant care

  • Light: Use a bright filtered position. Strong sun can mark the pale leaf edges and dry the ball too quickly.
  • Watering method: Soak the whole Kokodama ball in room-temperature water until it is evenly moist, then let it drain fully.
  • Moisture check: Lift the ball before watering. The surface can feel dry while the centre still holds moisture.
  • Drying interval: Let the outside dry and the centre become only lightly moist before soaking again.
  • Drainage: Keep the ball out of collected water after soaking. A wet centre with weak airflow can sour.
  • Temperature: Keep it warm after watering. A wet root ball cools faster than a standard pot.
  • Feeding: Add very diluted liquid fertiliser to the soaking water during active growth, then use plain water for the next few waterings.
  • Handling: Support the ball when moving it, so the rosette and young roots stay secure.
  • Grooming: Trim dry tips and spent flower stems with clean scissors.
  • Long-term growth: Rewrap the ball or move the plant into a pot once roots strongly outgrow the wrap.

Moisture, crown and ball checks

  • Brown tips: Check long dry intervals, mineral-heavy water or fertiliser salts in the ball.
  • Soft crown or sour smell: The centre may be staying wet too long. Extend drying time and improve airflow.
  • Leaves folding inward: The ball may have dried through the centre. Soak fully, then drain well.
  • Loose plant: Often caused by rough handling or repeated shallow watering. Stabilise the plant and use full soaking instead of shallow watering.
  • Surface mould: Weak airflow or a constantly wet outer layer are the usual causes. Let the surface dry more fully between soaks.

Pets, stems and hanging position

This spider plant species is non-toxic to cats and dogs. Hanging stems and loose plantlets can still attract pets, so secure the Kokodama well and keep nibbled plantlets out of reach.

Cultivar and format name

'Ocean' is the compact cream-edged cultivar name. Kokodama is the wrapped root-ball format; the plant itself is still Chlorophytum comosum.

Chlorophytum comosum 'Ocean' in Kokodama needs full soaking, complete drainage and weight-based moisture checks.

Solid Budget Monitor Arm With a Few Trade‑Offs
Size: 13"-34", Style: Single Arm
The WALI Single Monitor Mount performs about the same as my VIVO single monitor arm, which was a pleasant surprise given the lower price point. Setup was straightforward, and the gas spring adjustment works well once dialed in. It holds my monitor securely and offers the full range of motion I expected—tilt, swivel, rotation, and height adjustments all function smoothly. That said, the materials and overall build quality do feel a bit cheaper compared to higher‑end arms. It’s not flimsy, but you can tell where costs were saved. If you’re willing to spend roughly 60–70% more, you can definitely get a noticeably sturdier and more refined arm. Still, for a budget option, this one delivers exactly what it promises. Pros - Works just as well as the VIVO arm in terms of functionality - Easy to install with both clamp and grommet options - Gas spring provides good adjustability once set - Excellent value for an entry‑level monitor arm Cons - Materials feel cheaper than premium alternatives - Build quality isn’t as high as more expensive arms Overall As an introductory monitor arm, this is an excellent choice. It does everything the VIVO arm can, just with slightly lower‑end materials. If you’re on a budget or setting up a simple workstation, it’s a great fit. If you want something more robust for long‑term heavy use, spending a bit more will get you a significantly more refined Monitor arm.

Sturdy and easy to assemble
Size: 13"-34", Style: Single Arm, Size: 13"-34", Style: Single Arm
Really impressed with this monitor mount. The build quality feels solid and sturdy, especially for the price. It holds the monitor securely with no sagging or wobble, and the adjustability makes it super easy to get the perfect position. It’s been absolutely perfect for my sim racing setup being able to move the screen exactly where I want it made a huge difference in comfort and immersion. Definitely feels like a premium product without the premium price tag.

Reliable, affordable, and user-friendly
Size: 13"-34", Style: Single Arm, Size: 13"-34", Style: Single Arm
The installation process was straightforward and didn’t take much time at all—even if you’re not particularly handy, it’s easy to figure out. What really stands out is how flexible the arm is. It adjusts smoothly in multiple directions, making it simple to position my monitor exactly where I want it. Whether I’m working, watching something, or multitasking, the range of motion makes a noticeable difference in comfort and productivity. It’s also very sturdy once set up. My monitor feels secure, and I haven’t experienced any sagging or instability. As a second screen mount, it integrates perfectly with my desk setup and helps keep everything organized and clutter-free.

Solid Build, Easy Setup
Size: 17"-49", Style: Single Arm
I picked up two of these mounts — one for my 34" curved LG ultrawide and one for my 30" MSI ultrawide — and both have performed exactly as advertised. Build Quality & Value For the price, this thing is built surprisingly well. It feels solid, looks clean on the desk, and doesn't have that cheap, flimsy feel you'd expect at this price point. Genuinely impressed. Assembly & Installation Setup was straightforward. Everything you need comes in the box. The only tool you'll need to grab yourself is a ½" wrench — have that ready before you start and you'll be done in minutes. Mounting Options Two ways to mount it: clamp-on or through-hole (use an existing grommet hole or drill a new one). Both options feel secure once locked down. Sturdiness & Adjustability Once mounted, the arm holds firm. No drooping, no wobble. Repositioning the monitor is smooth and easy — tilt, swivel, height adjustments all work well even with the larger ultrawide panels. One Thing to Watch The tiny limiting screws ship loosely packed inside the arms. They're small and easy to lose if you're not paying attention when you open the box. Dump the contents carefully over a flat surface before digging in. Bottom Line If you're on the fence about a monitor mount, stop overthinking it and grab this one. It handles large ultrawides without breaking a sweat, installs fast, and won't break the bank. Highly recommended.

Initial thoughts
Size: 13"-34", Style: Single Arm
Getting everything set up took a bit of time and patience. The adjustment system wasn’t the most intuitive at first, and I ran into some confusion while trying to dial in the right positioning. However, after working with it for a while, I was able to get it pretty close to exactly how I wanted it. One thing to note is that making very fine adjustments can be a bit tricky. The mount is also slightly wobbly, and it’s fairly easy to bump the monitor out of position if you’re not careful. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s something to be aware of if you prefer a perfectly stable setup. That said, the overall construction feels solid and well-made, and once it’s in place, it does its job effectively. For the price and functionality, it’s a reliable option that gets the job done—even if it takes a little effort to get there.
