Lavender ‘Silver Frost’, also known as ‘Kathleen Elizabeth’, is grown as much for its soft, silvery foliage as for its flowers. The plant forms an upswept, bushy shrub that looks beautiful even in winter, bringing light and texture to the garden when many plants fade.
In bloom, ‘Silver Frost’ sends up long, sturdy stems topped with dark violet-blue flower spikes. The contrast between the cool silver leaves and rich purple flowers makes this variety especially striking in the landscape and in arrangements. The blooms carry a strong, pleasant lavender fragrance and hold their form well for both fresh and dried use.
With its larger size and architectural shape, ‘Silver Frost’ is well suited for landscaping, rock gardens, bouquets, crafts, potpourri, and small-scale oil distillation. It’s a wonderful choice for gardeners who appreciate foliage just as much as flowers.
