Meet the beautifully fragrant Gardenia 'Frost Proof' Cape Jasmine, a classic Southern garden favorite known for its creamy white blooms and unforgettable perfume. This special variety was bred to be more cold-tolerant than traditional gardenias, making it a reliable and rewarding plant for many gardeners.
While its common name includes "Jasmine" due to its scent, its botanical classification is Gardenia.
The velvety blossoms bloom from late spring through summer, filling the air with a sweet floral fragrance that many people associate with warm evenings and relaxing outdoor spaces. Its glossy evergreen leaves keep your garden looking lush all year long. Unlike many gardenias, this cultivar has buds that can withstand late spring frosts. It produces highly fragrant, double white flowers in early summer.
Gardeners love this plant because it offers luxurious fragrance, elegant blooms, and surprisingly easy care compared to other gardenia varieties. It grows into a shrub about 3–5 feet tall and 3–4 feet wide.
