Red Sensation Cordyline (Cordyline australis 'Red Sensation')

Red Sensation Cordyline (Cordyline australis 'Red Sensation') is a bold and elegant ornamental plant admired for its tall, spiky leaves in rich burgundy tones. Its dramatic, architectural form brings structure and sophistication to gardens, patios, and containers, offering a modern tropical look that endures year-round.

Distinctive Features

This cordyline produces long, sword-like leaves in deep shades of burgundy and maroon, arranged in an upright, fountain-like rosette. As it matures, the plant can reach 3 to 5 feet tall in containers and even higher in the ground. Occasionally, small clusters of fragrant, creamy-white flowers appear, followed by decorative berries that enhance its ornamental appeal.

Growing Conditions

  • Sun Exposure: Full sun to partial shade; color is richest in bright sunlight.
  • Soil: Well-drained, nutrient-rich soil; tolerates sandy or loamy types.
  • Water: Water regularly, allowing soil to dry slightly between waterings; drought-tolerant once established.
  • Humidity: Performs well in average to dry climates with occasional watering.
  • USDA Hardiness Zones: 8 to 11; grow in containers and move indoors in cooler climates.

Ideal Uses

  • Garden Design: Adds height, structure, and deep color to garden beds and borders.
  • Containers: Excellent for large pots on patios, terraces, or entryways as a focal accent.
  • Modern Landscapes: Complements contemporary or minimalist designs with clean, upright lines.

Low Maintenance Care

Red Sensation Cordyline is simple to maintain and highly adaptable, thriving with minimal attention once established.

  • Watering: Water deeply but infrequently; reduce frequency during winter months.
  • Pruning: Remove spent or damaged leaves to maintain a clean, attractive shape.
  • Fertilizing: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in spring and mid-summer to promote growth.
  • Pest Control: Rarely troubled by pests; monitor for scale or aphids and treat if necessary.

Why Choose Red Sensation Cordyline?

Red Sensation Cordyline combines rich color, structure, and resilience, making it an essential plant for both modern landscapes and tropical-themed gardens.

  • Bold Foliage: Deep burgundy leaves create striking contrast and visual impact.
  • Architectural Appeal: Tall, upright form adds drama and vertical interest to any setting.
  • Drought Tolerant: Performs well in dry conditions once established.
  • Year-Round Color: Provides lasting texture and vibrancy through all seasons.

Cordyline australis 'Red Sensation' delivers lasting color, structure, and low-maintenance beauty, serving as a perfect focal point for patios, borders, and contemporary garden designs.

Oily situation lol
Configuration: 4-Stroke, Size: 1 GA
Honestly how do you write a review of this product? I would have to run tests for years on multiple oils on various engines to do so. The value was good however and shipping was great

Works well. You need to drill a 3/8” hole
Appears to be well made, alignment bar slides in nicely. As stated, you need to drill a hole in the bar for the gimble bearing driver, the directions are not clear, what I did was before I take out the old gimble bearing, put an O ring on the bar close to the last step on the bar, slide the bar all the way in, then carefully slide the bar out, this marks the distance from the back of the gimble bearing to where the shaft on the outdrive bottoms out, move the O ring a 1/4” towards the stepped part of the alignment tool (this is so you won’t bottom out the alignment tool when driving the gimble bearing in) then slide the driver puck up to the O ring and use a 3/8” diameter transfer punch through the side hole in the puck to mark the bar. You need to drill a 3/8” diameter hole in the alignment bar, two V blocks, some clamps, and a drill press will make drilling much easier, after the bar is securely mounted and centered in the drill press, use a center drill, then 1/4” drill first, using plenty of oil, drill all the way through, then use the 3/8” drill, deburr both sides and you should be good to go. People complain that it doesn’t come pre-drilled, the reason is that not all out drives are the same so you have to fit it to the outdrive that you have. Fortunately, I have a machine shop at my house and have a jig setup with various drill bushings, but the method I described above should work for you. Just make sure you’re perfectly centered and secure before you start drilling.

Worked for Volvo Penta SX Gimbal Bearing
Very heavy tool, I was surprised. Pulled my bearing like it was nothing. Putting the new bearing in was a little more difficult as you have to drill a hole in the engine alignment shaft where it will work for your particular outdrive. Not hard, but it does not come pre-drilled as the required depth for each particular gimbal bearing differs by manufacturer and model. Measure your bearing placement before removal and check that it was installed correctly in the first place. The bearing should line up with the grease fitting and the o-rings on the drive shaft should end up riding in the middle of the bearing. once you have your measurement drill the hole, I used a drill press. I suppose you could use it on multiple outdrive models as long as you can drill more holes.
