• Sempervivum ‘Silver King’ is a vigorous grower well suited for rock gardens and outdoor containers. The large rosettes have a green base color that can develop dramatic flushes of red and burgundy, especially when grown in bright sun. The foliage may also show wavy striations or “watermark” patterns of natural wax on the leaf surface.

Sempervivum plants originate from mountainous regions of Europe, where they are adapted to bright sun, rocky soils, and cold winters. ‘Silver King’ responds strongly to light and seasonal temperature changes, resulting in noticeable color variation throughout the year.

Gritty, well-draining soil is essential. Use a cactus and succulent mix with 50%-70% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite.

Water infrequently. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Avoid letting water sit in the rosette to prevent rot.
