Carbon (carbon dioxide) is the most important nutrient for aquarium plants. Around 40% of the dry mass of plants consists of it, but it is in short supply in aquariums. The result: poor plant growth. And when the plants grow poorly, the unwanted algae get their chance. Carbo Care Pro supplies all aquarium plants quickly and effectively with easily available carbon. All plants, from mosses to echinodorus and cryptocorynes to fast-growing stem plants, become fuller and stronger. The leaves become significantly larger and more colorful. The success is visible after just a few weeks - pay attention to the shoot tips and the young leaves. The lush, healthy growth increases the plants' ability to compete with algae. Undesirable algae are thus pushed back. The entire aquarium appears healthier, greener and more beautiful.

How Carbo Care Pro works

The basis of plant metabolism is photosynthesis. In this biochemical process, solar energy is "captured" and stored in energy-rich carbon compounds. One such energy-rich compound is sugar. These compounds are used by the plant (a) as a universal energy source or (b) to produce other compounds. To stay with the sugar example: The plant can "burn" the sugar in its cells and use the released energy to drive other metabolic processes. Or it can process the sugar into cellulose, for example. Cellulose, also known as wood pulp, is the substance that gives trees their strength and consists of nothing other than long chains of sugar. How can the plant convert substances into one another? The central hub in plant metabolism is the so-called citric acid cycle. The citric acid cycle is like a factory. A wide variety of substances are introduced here to produce the required substances. With the help of this metabolic pathway, the plant can produce all vital carbon compounds itself: carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, secondary plant substances, etc. And this is exactly where Carbo Care Pro comes into play. The product contains selected active ingredients that also occur in plant metabolism in this or a similar form. The active ingredients are absorbed by the plant and used in the cells as building material for the construction of higher compounds or as an energy source. This additional supply allows the plant to grow faster and stronger. There is also another positive effect: all organic active ingredients based on carbon are bacterially degradable, because the numerous filter bacteria in the aquarium feed on them. In the end, only carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) and water remain. Carbo Care Pro therefore supplies the plants with vital carbon in two ways. The effect is visible after just a few weeks of regular use: the plants grow faster, more lush and healthier, and algae are pushed back.

Application/Dosage

Depending on plants and growth conditions: 2 – 4 ml per 100 L of aquarium water daily

Information on the ingredient glutaraldehyde

When dosed and used correctly, Carbo Care Pro is safe for all fish, plants, shrimps, snails, filter bacteria and other aquarium inhabitants, even when used long-term. The product had to undergo a long-term practical test in various aquariums and under various conditions. User safety is a very high priority at Dennerle. The old rule also applies to the active ingredient glutaraldehyde: the dose makes the poison. Glutaraldehyde in concentrated form is a hazardous substance. At a dosage of 3 ml per 100 L of aquarium water, the active ingredient is diluted by a factor of 33,000. This application concentration is sufficient to significantly promote plant growth, but is so low that the aquarium inhabitants cannot be negatively affected. In addition, glutaraldehyde is readily biodegradable in the application concentration used here. What the plants do not absorb is "eaten" by the filter bacteria - all that remains is CO 2 , which in turn benefits the plants, and water. Even with long-term use, there is no accumulation of glutaraldehyde in the aquarium. A safety buffer is built into the dosage. Even accidentally dosing twice will not lead to negative effects. However, you should generally follow the recommended and proven dosage and not overdose on Carbo Care Pro .

Good to have if you've never seen the iTEP exam, but don't rely on it to boost your scores
Format: Paperback
This book is good in that it comes with two practice tests: one in the beginning of the book, one in the end of the book. The grading rubric is helpful too. However, the actual guide part of the book, doesn't help too much with how to improve test scores. What I like least about this guide is that it won't tell you which questions you answered incorrectly on the practice exams. A good test prep guide will tell you what you answered incorrectly, and will tell you what logic to follow to get to the correct answer. In the reading passages, it would be nice to know where I can find evidence to justify the "correct" answer. In the grammar section, it would be nice to know which rule I'm violating. Any test guide should always come with some testing strategies. I.E. If this question is taking up too much time, skip it and go to the next one. This guide lacks simple strategies like that. Simple strategies like that could be useful when incorporated into this guide because there are certain sections on the exam that you can go back to previous questions, but some sections where the "back" button is disabled. Overall, if you've never seen an iTEP exam before, this book is certainly helpful in that it will give you an idea of what you will be testing for. However, this book alone won't help you achieve a score of 6. The table of contents itself will tell you there are only 86 pages of actual content covering test material. That's not enough to cover how to excel in the exam.
