Nephrolepis exaltata 'Boston', commonly known as the Boston Fern, is a timeless houseplant admired for its cascading, feathery fronds. Native to tropical and subtropical regions, this evergreen fern thrives in humid environments, making it an excellent choice for indoor spaces.

Key Features of Boston Fern

  • Lush Foliage – Long, arching fronds with finely-divided leaflets create a graceful, flowing appearance.
  • Classic and Versatile – Perfect for hanging baskets, shelves, or as a statement plant in any space.

How to Care for Nephrolepis exaltata 'Boston'

  • Light Preferences – Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions.
  • Watering Routine – Keep the soil consistently moist but avoid waterlogging. Do not let the soil dry out completely.
  • Humidity and Temperature – Thrives in high humidity (60% or above) and temperatures between 18°C - 24°C.
  • Soil Requirements – Best grown in a well-draining, rich organic potting mix.
  • Fertilization – Feed with a diluted liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during active growth.

Common Issues and Solutions

  • Leaf Browning – Usually caused by low humidity or inconsistent watering. Maintain higher moisture levels.

Additional Growing Tips

  • Encouraging Full Growth – Regularly trim older fronds to promote fresh, healthy foliage.

Dog-approved toy!
This dog toy was initially confusing because the instructions did not say or show where to find the power button and charging port. They were nowhere to be found until I realized I could unscrew the bottom part of the ball from the top (see picture). That revealed the button and port -- problem solved. Then on to the dog test. Our dog was initially confused by and ultimately fascinated with the ball as seen in the video. There are several operating modes depending on how active your dog is/wants to be. The toy seems quite rugged, so immune to rough dogplay, at least from a golden retriever. Our dog considers this a hit!

auto-rolling dog ball
I don't know what i'm doing wrong but my pets don't enjoy it. It's mobile on both settings. I think it just needs a place inside to place a treat or something. Quality seems okay. The battery lasts a long time. They chewed on it for a little bit and left it, the material is okay. It's made of some kind of rubber.
