🌿 Key Features

Feature

Description

Shape

Forms a tight, symmetrical rosette that looks very much like a lotus flower — hence the name.

Size

Typically 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) across, depending on maturity and growing conditions.

Leaves

Thick, fleshy, slightly pointed leaves; smooth surface with a powdery, pastel coating called farina.

Color

Silvery blue to mint-green base, often with pink or lavender hues along the edges, especially in bright sunlight.

Flowers

Grows small, bell-shaped flowers on a tall stalk; colors are usually pink, orange, or coral.

🌞 Growing Conditions

Requirement

Ideal Conditions

Light

Bright indirect light to full sun; too little light causes stretching (etiolation).

Water

“Soak and dry” method — water deeply, then let soil dry completely before watering again. Overwatering can cause rot.

Soil

Well-draining cactus or succulent mix; adding perlite or pumice improves drainage.

Temperature

Prefers 18–27°C (65–80°F); protect from frost below 10°C (50°F).

Humidity

Low humidity — avoid misting the leaves.

🌱 Care Tips

  • Avoid water on leaves — water the soil directly to prevent rot.
  • Remove dead lower leaves to keep the plant healthy and attractive.
  • Propagate easily via leaf or rosette cuttings.
  • Give plenty of light to maintain the compact “lotus” shape.
  • Fertilize lightly during spring–summer with a diluted succulent fertilizer.

Love these but be aware ...
Bought some of these on a recent UK cruise and loved them. Ordered online once we returned to US. Unfortunately USPS delivery vans are not air conditioned and these arrived with the chocolate melted. Once they cooled the chocolate hardened and rivaled the best industrial adhesive for sticking them whole pack together. Had to break them apart. Not the fault of the manufacturer or the shipper, but beware.

Melted
These biscuits seem to melt easily. I have purchased from 2 different sellers and have nothing but problems with them stuck together and crumbling on arrival.

All melted and ruined.
First - let me tell you how much I love these biscuits. I really REALLY love them. Living in Texas as an ex-pat, they give me a nice little treat from home when I needed it. Second - Shipping SUCKS. While speedy, the box is not marked for keeping out of the heat, or "needs refrigeration" etc... SOMETHING. They were left in my mail box. ALL day. In 90+ degree Texas heat. So yeah, the chocolate melted them all together, even though I immediately put them in the fridge. They were a mess to break apart, and instead I ended up with 2-3 layer sandwich-like biscuit chunks. I'm so disappointed- how do I dip them in my Tetley cuppa, when they come like this?? I won't buy these from this seller in the future.
