Spring's first announcement. The most beloved flowering native tree in the East.

Cercis canadensis, the Eastern Redbud, is the tree that tells you winter is over. Before a single leaf has opened anywhere in the landscape, Redbud covers its bare branches in dense clusters of rosy-pink flowers from trunk to twig tip, creating one of the most vivid and hopeful displays in the spring garden. It is native across a wide swath of eastern North America, grows in full sun and partial shade, tolerates poor soils, and stays at a size that fits almost any property. It is also one of the most important early-season nectar trees for native bees emerging from winter. If you are looking to buy Eastern Redbud seeds or grow redbud from seed, this is the flowering native tree most likely to stop traffic in spring.

  • One of the earliest flowering trees in spring, blooming on bare branches before leaves emerge
  • Rosy-pink flower clusters cover every branch, twig, and even the trunk and roots
  • Native across eastern North America, exceptionally adaptable to a wide range of conditions
  • Provides critical early-season nectar when native bees are first emerging from winter dormancy
  • Heart-shaped leaves provide summer interest and clear yellow fall color

Things you probably did not know about the Eastern Redbud

The flowers are edible.
Eastern Redbud flowers have a mildly sweet, slightly tangy flavor and have been eaten by Indigenous peoples and settlers for centuries. They can be eaten raw in salads, pickled as a caper substitute, or added to baked goods. The young seed pods that follow are also edible when very young and tender. It is one of the few flowering ornamental trees with genuinely useful edible parts.

It blooms on wood that is years old.
Unlike most flowering trees whose blooms appear only on the current season's growth, Eastern Redbud produces flowers directly from older wood, including trunks and major branches that may be decades old. This cauliflory, the ability to flower from old wood, is characteristic of tropical plants and is extraordinary in a temperate tree. It is part of what makes the Redbud display so enveloping and unlike anything else.

Native bees depend on it critically.
Eastern Redbud blooms several weeks before most other native flowering trees, providing an essential nectar and pollen bridge for queen bumblebees, mason bees, and mining bees that emerge early but find little else in bloom. In gardens where Redbud is present, early-season pollinator populations are measurably higher.

It has a near-perfect natural form.
Eastern Redbud develops a naturally layered, horizontal branching structure that landscape architects describe as requiring almost no pruning to achieve a beautiful form. Its structure in winter, summer, and fall is as attractive as its brief spring flowering. Few trees are as visually interesting across all four seasons.

Very good frother that gets the job done extreamly well
Color: White
I hvae used this frother primarily for smoothies and coffees. Each time, it does a wonderful job. Deducted a star for the location of the speed control which is ontop of the device. It's akward to use one handed while attempting to control the speed, athough it's advertised as making it easier. It's not!

Good quality
Color: Black
Have used the frother 5 days in a row. It comes already charged. Fingers crossed no issues when I eventually have to charge it. I love everything about it. It’s worth a little bit of extra money as you can control the blending power from slow to fast. Easily held with both hands to coordinate. Today for a change I elected to just add a touch of bourbon caramel syrup to my oat milk -an excellent choice! They give you two attachments which is helpful. I’m not hard on my kitchen appliances but it’s good to know I have an immediate back up if needed. I rinse frother attachment out immediately in a cup of warm water and air dry on a towel. At this point, I highly recommend. My next adventure in the kitchen will be Matcha tea. I will use the bamboo whisk for the actual tea. If I decide to add oat milk to the top,(such as for a cold latte) I will use this frother.

Higher quality then I expect, very satisfied
Color: Gray
High quality overall, very high powered. It looks really fancy and elegant. The adjustable speed knob on the top is really great. The stand looks really nice but isn't the best design because it is easy to knock over when you take it out, that's my only issue with it.

I love it!
Color: Black, Size: Rechargeable
This thing works great! It holds a charge for a long time. I love that it has different attachments. I use it mainly for mixing powder into my drinks. It is very powerful. The speed is adjustable too. It feels good to hold too. It lights up when you squeeze the trigger and when it starts losing charge, the light bar gets shorter. I highly recommend it.

Perfect all-around frother, stand keeps it nice and neat on the counter within easy reach.
Color: Black, Size: Rechargeable
Rechargeable, lightweight, variable speeds and optional whisks all make this the perfect item for your kitchen. You can quickly froth milk for your coffees, whip a small batch of whip cream, and even make mug cakes with the hook attachment. The price is very compatible with the competitors, but the ease of use makes this a top choice. The variable speeds makes it much better to control than the push button ones. When you let go of the pressure switch it turns off, no need for a dedicated on-off switch. Having the pressure switch on the top makes it extremely easy to use! It fits very comfortably in the hand and with the metal stand, looks quite nice on the counter, ready to use at any time. I highly recommend this InstaWhisk!
