Oregon Sugar Pod II is a heavy-bearing snow pea that produces crisp, tender, 4- to 5-inch pods on vigorous 2- to 3-foot vines that seem determined to outpace your harvest basket. A true edible podded pea, the Oregon Sugar Pea's sweet, juicy pods are broad, flat, and perfect for fresh eating, quick stir-fries, or garden snacking straight off the vine (a favorite pastime of our children). And with its natural resistance to pea mosaic virus and powdery mildew, Oregon Sugar Pod II stays healthy and productive long after other peas start to falter, so you'll be snacking on peas well into summer.

Bred by the legendary Dr. James Baggett of Oregon State University and released in 1985, Oregon Sugar Pod II is the result of careful crosses involving Dwarf Grey Sugar, Wando, and Perfected Sugar—a pedigree of workhorse varieties refined into one outstanding pea. Originally developed as a freezer-friendly variety for commercial growers, it quickly earned a devoted following among home gardeners for its reliable performance, superb flavor, and generous yields.

For the longest possible harvest window, we recommend succession planting Oregon Sugar Pod peas every 2 to 3 weeks in early spring, and again as summer winds down for a fall crop where climates allow. With a little planning, you’ll be swimming in crisp, sweet pods from the first warm days of spring straight through the season’s final cool spell. Whether you're freezing, stir-frying, or munching them straight from the vine, Oregon Sugar Pod II earns its keep—and then some.

Great books! Hope there are more!
Format: Paperback
My 10 year devoured both books 1 & 2 in two days! She loves them so much and can’t stop talking about them. She is telling all her friends they HAVE to read them! I’m sure she will read them again and again. Thank you Sylvia Douye!

Amazing and inspiring
Format: Paperback
As a young transgender person this book fills me with a lot of hope for my future. I relate to his story so much. He gives me hope that one day I can medically transition even if it’ll be difficult. I would suggest this book to transgender people who are 14 and older. And if you read this one make sure to read the second one!

Really Wanted to Love This Book
Format: Paperback
I grew up in a time where there were very few LBGTQ books and I felt very much an anomaly. I heard great things about this book and wanted to read it. I found the book to be written super simply and not adding much to the conversation. I am glad it exists but it was super simplistic and it really doesn’t add much to the conversations around transitioning. It might be a great book for a kid just starting to figure out who they are. I left this book in a free library in a public space in hopes it gets read by someone who needs the message.
