Painted Lady Philodendron (Philodendron erubescens 'Painted Lady')

Painted Lady Philodendron is a vibrant climbing houseplant that adds bold color and a playful tropical look to indoor spaces. It is a great choice when you want a statement plant that feels lively and fresh, with variegated foliage that changes as new leaves emerge. Given bright, indirect light and a support to climb, it becomes fuller and more impressive over time. If you want a philodendron that brings color, contrast, and a true collector feel, Painted Lady is a standout.

Distinctive Features

This cultivar is prized for its variegated leaves, typically showing yellow to lime tones with green mottling and speckling, along with contrasting pink to red petioles that add extra color. New growth often emerges brighter and can look especially vivid before maturing into a more balanced mix of tones. It is a climbing type, so a moss pole or stake helps it grow more upright and can encourage larger, better-shaped leaves. The combination of colorful foliage and striking stems makes it an eye-catching plant even when it is still a manageable size.

Growing Conditions

  • Sun: Bright, indirect light is ideal to maintain strong color, and avoid harsh direct sun that can scorch lighter leaf tissue.
  • Soil: Airy, well-drained aroid mix that holds some moisture but never stays soggy.
  • Water: Water when the top 1 to 2 inches of soil dry, and do not let the pot sit in water.
  • Humidity: Moderate to higher humidity supports best growth and leaf quality, with average home humidity acceptable.
  • Growth Habit: Climbing vine that benefits from a moss pole for a fuller vertical display.

Ideal Uses

  • Focal Point: Train up a moss pole to create a colorful, vertical statement plant.
  • Plant Stands: Place at eye level so the variegation and red petioles can be appreciated up close.
  • Bright Room Corner: Add to a bright corner to bring a lively tropical look and strong color contrast.
  • Collector Displays: Pair with other aroids to build a curated indoor collection with varied colors and leaf shapes.

Low Maintenance Care

  • Watering: Keep evenly moist but not wet, allowing a partial dry-down between waterings.
  • Support: Provide a moss pole and secure stems to encourage upright growth and larger foliage.
  • Feeding: Feed monthly in spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertilizer at a moderate strength.
  • Cleaning: Wipe leaves gently to remove dust and keep variegation looking crisp.

Why Choose Painted Lady Philodendron?

  • Bright Variegation: Yellow and green foliage brings lively color and a collector feel.
  • Colorful Stems: Red to pink petioles add extra contrast and character.
  • Climbing Statement: Trained growth on a pole creates a fuller, more impressive display.
  • High Decor Impact: One plant can add color, texture, and tropical energy to a room.

Painted Lady Philodendron is a great choice when you want a plant that feels vibrant, unique, and full of personality. Give it bright, indirect light, an airy mix, and steady watering after partial dry-down, and it will grow steadily and stay colorful. With a support to climb, it becomes a lasting focal plant that brings bold tropical style indoors.

not bad
Format: Kindle
I loved the plot of this book. The characters just didn’t have a lot of depth. The connections and “love” just weren’t communicated very well in the writing. The author didn’t write the sweet psycho trope very well at all either. Lachlan was just a mess of a character.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5
