It is traditionally used to brighten up borders and containers, while the blooms are perfect for drying or using in sachets, offering a modern twist on a classic cottage garden favourite.
This plant is typically grown as a compact, hardy evergreen shrub. It is tough and cold-tolerant, provided it is not sitting in damp soil. For the best results and the most vibrant leaf variegation, plant it in a location with full sun. It is drought-tolerant and must have gritty, free-draining soil, as it will struggle and rot if kept consistently moist or planted in heavy clay.
