Pick Up Only
Common Name: Peacock Plant
Botanical Name: Calathea makoyana
Origin: Native to the tropical rainforests of Brazil
Description:
Calathea Peacock is a striking foliage plant admired for its beautifully patterned leaves that resemble the feathers of a peacock. Each leaf features light green tones with dark green markings and a soft purple underside, making it a true showstopper in any indoor space. Its elegant, decorative foliage adds texture and movement to shelves, tabletops, and indoor plant displays.
Known for its “prayer plant” behaviour, Calathea Peacock gently raises and lowers its leaves throughout the day, bringing a sense of life and calm into your home. While slightly more particular than some houseplants, it rewards proper care with lush, vibrant growth. Available for Sydney delivery and Australia-wide shipping, this plant is perfect for plant lovers who enjoy statement foliage.
🌱 Care Tips:
-
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light; avoid direct sunlight which can fade or scorch the leaves.
-
Water: Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged; use filtered or rainwater if possible.
-
Humidity: Thrives in high humidity; ideal for bathrooms or use with a humidifier.
-
Temperature: Best between 18°C–26°C; protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C.
-
Soil: Use a well-draining, moisture-retentive mix with coco peat or perlite.
-
Fertiliser: Feed monthly during spring and summer with a diluted liquid fertiliser.
-
Pet Friendly: ✅ Pet friendly; non-toxic to cats and dogs.
