Assorted Crown of Thorns (Euphorbia milii)

Crown of Thorns is a tough, sun-loving succulent that delivers long-lasting color with very little day-to-day maintenance. Its bright bracts keep showing up in waves through much of the year when it gets strong light, making it a reliable flowering houseplant for sunny windows. The spiny stems and sturdy habit give it a bold, sculptural look that holds its shape instead of wilting or flopping. Because this is an assorted selection, flower color and exact growth habit can vary, but the easy-care performance stays consistent.

Distinctive Features

This plant combines thick, thorny stems with small leaves and showy, long-lasting bracts that may be red, pink, yellow, orange, or creamy tones depending on the cultivar. It can bloom repeatedly with bright light, and it tolerates dry indoor air better than many flowering plants. The milky sap is irritating and the spines are sharp, so it is best placed where it will not be brushed by kids or pets.

Growing Conditions

  • Sun: Full sun outdoors and the sunniest possible window indoors, with bright light essential for steady flowering.
  • Soil: Fast-draining cactus or succulent mix, and never allow the pot to sit in water.
  • Water: Let the mix dry down between waterings, then water thoroughly and drain, reducing frequency in winter.
  • Zones: USDA Zones 9 to 11 outdoors, typically grown as a houseplant elsewhere.
  • Mature Size: About 1 to 3 feet tall and 1 to 2 feet wide indoors, and potentially larger in warm outdoor climates.

Ideal Uses

  • Focal Point: Use as a focal point in a bright window where the bract color and sculptural stems can stand out year-round.
  • Sunny Windowsills: Place in high light areas where many houseplants struggle, especially south or west exposures.
  • Containers: Grow in pots with sharp drainage for a clean, upright accent that stays neat and contained.
  • Dry Indoor Spaces: Use in rooms with lower humidity where flowering plants often disappoint.
  • Warm Patio Seasonal Accent: Move outdoors to full sun after frost for a tough, blooming container plant in summer.

Low Maintenance Care

  • Watering: Water sparingly and always let the soil dry, since overwatering is the most common cause of decline.
  • Pruning: Prune lightly to shape and encourage branching, wearing gloves and avoiding contact with sap.
  • Handling: Wear gloves and eye protection when cutting, and keep sap away from skin and eyes.
  • Light: Increase light if bloom slows and stems stretch, rotating the pot for even growth.
  • Temperature: Protect from cold drafts and avoid exposing the plant to temperatures near freezing.

Why Choose Crown of Thorns?

  • Repeat Color: Produces long-lasting bracts in recurring flushes when given strong light.
  • Drought Tolerance: Handles missed waterings better than most flowering houseplants.
  • Sun Window Friendly: Thrives in bright exposures where many indoor plants struggle with heat and light.
  • Architectural Form: Spiny stems and upright structure add a bold, sculptural look year-round.
  • Easy Routine: Simple care, bright light and dry-down watering, keeps it performing reliably.

Crown of Thorns is ideal when you want a flowering plant that behaves like a succulent: resilient, sun-happy, and not needy. Give it sharp drainage, strong light, and a dry-down watering rhythm, and it will reward you with repeat color and a clean, sculptural silhouette. Place it thoughtfully for safety, and it becomes a durable indoor statement plant that keeps earning its spot.

Love the Timex Ironman Shock watches!!
Color: Black/Black/Digital
I really like the Timex Ironman Shock watches. They are very durable and reliable. Simple to use and modeled after the. Original Ironman watches of the late 80s and 90s. Buttons are clearly marked and easy to press. They used to make many colors of this Shock model of the watch inc a cool shiny red color my wife still has . I have been a runner many many years and at 65, am still out although a lot slower than my 20s. But Timex Ironman watches have. Been my constant companion on the roads and track for 35 years now.

Solid Watch 2 Months In TLDR, would buy again
Color: Black/Black/Digital
Solid watch so far with a readable face and a comfortable strap. My previous watch was a G-shock DW5600. I chose this for the lap feature and generally liked the appearance. Things I didn’t love: 1) the chronograph displays the mode at the top. I know what mode it’s in, it would be better to have the actual time. 2) this has dual time zones, it’s apparently easy to flip to the second time zone without realizing. I have mine set to US eastern and US central (a one hour difference which begs the question why, and I hear you). But I almost missed 2 events not realizing my wristwatch had jumped back an hour while playing with my kids in the park. 3) I’m still playing with the count down timer function. I messed something up on my first run, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out. Just something didn’t work intuitively. 4) I didn’t realize how often I had used the indigo equivalent feature on my Gshock as a flash light in low light situations. With the black face this isn’t an option on this watch (I’d still make this trade for the aesthetic). I would buy again just for something fresh after 5+ years with the G-Shock and the lap feature. Probably a little hyper critical focused on the short comings. Water resistance has been tested an no issues after two months.
