Cotyledon 'Pendens' Variegata is a rare and visually captivating trailing succulent, prized for its creamy variegation and elegant cascading habit. This cultivar is a variegated form of Cotyledon pendens, commonly known as the Cliff Cotyledon, a species native to the mountainous regions of South Africa. Its variegated form is especially sought after among collectors for its unusual coloration and refined growth habit.

The thick, fleshy leaves are teardrop-shaped and arranged oppositely along arching stems. Each leaf features striking bands of lime green and creamy white, sometimes with subtle blushes of pink under cool temperatures or strong light. As the stems elongate, they begin to drape gracefully over pot edges or hanging baskets, creating a curtain of variegated foliage that moves gently with the breeze. Mature plants bloom in spring to summer, producing dainty, orange-red, bell-shaped flowers that hang delicately from the tips of the stems, adding seasonal interest.

Cotyledon 'Pendens' Variegata thrives in bright, indirect light and benefits from morning sun or dappled light throughout the day. It requires a gritty, free-draining succulent mix and should be watered only when the soil is completely dry—less frequently in cooler months. While drought-tolerant once established, it is not frost-hardy and should be protected during cold snaps, especially in southern Australia.

This succulent is well-suited to pots, rockeries, or hanging planters. As with other Cotyledons, all parts are toxic if ingested, so it's best kept out of reach of pets and small children. Its distinctive appearance and gentle trailing form make it a striking addition to any succulent collection.
