If you've ever wanted a plant that stops guests in their tracks, the White Variegated Banana Plant (Musa 'Florida') is it. With its bold, paddle-shaped leaves dramatically streaked in creamy white and lush green, this rare tropical beauty is unlike any banana plant you've seen before. Each leaf unfurls as a small piece of living art — no two are ever quite the same.
Native to tropical regions and cherished by collectors worldwide, Musa 'Florida' is more than just a pretty face. It grows with a vigorous, tropical spirit that makes it equally impressive indoors as a statement houseplant or outdoors in a sunny garden corner. The variegation is natural and genetic, meaning those gorgeous white markings are here to stay.
Whether you're a seasoned plant collector or someone looking to bring serious drama to your balcony or living space, this one belongs in your collection. It's rare, it's bold, and it's unapologetically tropical — just the way we like it at Soiled.
Light
Bright indirect to direct sunlight. Outdoors: 4–6 hrs daily, morning sun with afternoon shade. Indoors: south or west-facing window. More light = better variegation.
Watering
Water deeply when the top 2–3 inches of soil dry out. Never let roots sit in water. In Indian summers, water 2–3x a week. Reduce in cooler months. Empty saucers after watering.
Growing Media
Use a rich, well-draining mix: 40% cocopeat, 30% compost/vermicompost, 20% perlite or river sand, 10% bark chips. Avoid compacting garden soil. Repot every 1–2 years.
Feeding & Fertilization
Feed with balanced NPK (19:19:19) every 2–3 weeks in the growing season (spring–early autumn). Add potassium-rich feed monthly. Reduce in winter. Avoid over-fertilizing — it can dull variegation.
