Cotyledon tomentosa subsp. ladismithiensis, native to South Africa, is also known as Cotyledon Bear Paw or Bear’s Paw. It is a succulent shrublet up to 12 inches (30 cm) tall. It is densely branched and covered with fine tiny white hairs, giving it a velvety look. The leaves are up to 2 inches (5 cm) long, fleshy, yellow-green, sometimes with reddish tips. These leaves usually have from 1 to 3 apical teeth, resembling the "bear claws".
Cotyledon Bear's Paw produces clusters of yellow to orange-red bell-shaped flowers in late spring.
This plant is fragile so it may be shipped bare root carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and recycled newspaper.

Bright light and ample airflow.
Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch then let drain completely.
Can be mildly toxic to pets and humans - USDA Zone from 9b: to -3.8 °C (25 °F) to 11: above 4.5 °C (40 °F).

Great for Family Devo for Teens

I am a single mom of two teens and was looking for a creative way to "get a wise man speaking to my son." My 15-year old is an avid sports fan and normal rap-listening, sullen teenage boy. His teen sister and I have been reading this in the mornings all year before school at breakfast. It has been WONDERFUL and completely achieved my purpose. Although some of the devos are for sure written to men (marriage, etc.) I just skip those. They have been completely adaptable for a family devo and my son has enjoyed his occasional football team experiences. The devos frequently inspire a quick discussion about our own experiences. The football examples are not so overwhelming, he'll use one maybe every few days which is just right. I would say his main takeaway - what I have been trying to teach in the wake of moral problems of other relatives - is that Character Matters. Our Integrity does matter. The Bible verses and stories are relevant, sometimes we look them up. Thank you so much, Tony, for being a much needed Godly "grandfather" to my kids this year!

I almost gave 4 stars but this is a very good devotional. But here's why I didn't. the reasons are very minor, I think. 1) I hesitated to buy this in the first place because I was afraid it would overdo football and other sports examples. So far, (I two months in) it's not too bad; just a little more than I expected and usually they serve as good illustrations; 2) sometimes the selected verses have little to do with the meditation for the day. The selected verses are good ones and the meditations are good ones too. Finally decided to buy because Tony Dungy and I have same birthday.
