As the plant matures, it produces paired flowers on an unbranched spike that can reach heights of 8 to 10 feet. In coastal gardens, the plant thrives in full sun, and in hot inland gardens, it prefers part sun to light shade. While drought-resistant, it benefits from occasional watering during the summer. Hardy down to 25 F.
