It can reach a height of 3.3 feet (1 m) and has a shrubby or tree-like appearance. The leaves are approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) long and 0.12 inches (0.3 cm) in diameter. As the stems mature, they become woody and develop a brown bark. The flowers, which bloom in spring and summer, are white or cream-colored and grow in dense clusters on long stalks.
