Discover our premium offering: the "Grower's Pick.” This exceptional plant selection stands out as the most sizable option available, featuring the tallest and most robust plant we can ship. Each “Grower’s Pick” is meticulously chosen for its advanced maturity, ensuring a developed root structure for superior growth and vitality.

Dive into the realm of the striking Ficus Elastica 'Burgundy', popularly known as the Burgundy Rubber Plant or Indian Rubber Tree. This majestic plant is admired for its broad, glossy leaves that unfurl in deep, rich burgundy tones, bringing a touch of opulence and tropical flair to any space.

How to Grow

The Burgundy Rubber Plant flourishes in bright, indirect light but is adaptable enough to tolerate some shade. While it prefers a well-draining potting mix, it's also crucial that the chosen container has adequate drainage holes. It's best suited for indoor growth but can be grown outdoors in USDA zones 10-12.

Care Tips

Water the plant when the top inch of soil feels dry, reducing frequency in the winter months. While it can handle some drought, it's essential not to let the soil dry out completely. To maintain the luster of its leaves, occasionally wipe them with a damp cloth to remove dust and boost humidity, especially if the indoor air is dry.

Uses

The Ficus Elastica 'Burgundy' serves as a bold statement piece in living rooms, offices, or spacious hallways. Its dramatic foliage and vertical growth make it a natural choice for modern, minimalist, or tropical decor themes.

Planting Tips

When potting, select a container with sufficient drainage. Consider using a potting mix designed for houseplants or a mix enriched with perlite for added drainage. If planting outdoors, choose a sheltered spot with dappled sunlight and protect it from strong winds or frost.

Maintenance

To promote even growth, rotate the plant every few weeks towards the light source. Prune away any yellow or damaged leaves or stems to encourage new, healthy growth and maintain its visual appeal.

An epic naval history decades in the making
Format: Hardcover
Excellent ending to Dr. Rodger's three book series "A Naval History of Britain", with the same level of detail and interesting presentation of facts I have come to expect from reading other of his works over the years. For anyone interested in a comprehensive naval history of Britain (from which the US Navy inherited much of its tradition), I would highly recommend this series. In addition, "The Wooden World: An Anatomy of the Georgian Navy" is also quite a good read. My (incomplete, sadly) collection of Dr. Rodger's works will continue to hold a special place on my naval history shelf for easy reference in the future. I also hope Dr. Rodger's health has improved. The shipper unfortunately did not pack this book well, resulting in minor damage (mostly cosmetic - book is still entirely readable).

Answers Many Questions about Naval Developments
Format: Hardcover
The history offers a detailed and well organized account of the Royal Navy as it transitioned from sail to steam. Coverage included personalities, technology, tactics and strategy. The combination provided a complete appreciation of the dynamics at play, some unexpectedly. The details might be a bit much for a casual reader but offered plenty of avenues for research not available or compiled in one source. I look forward to the final volume, which should describe another watershed era.

Great Book with a different perspective
Format: Hardcover
This will be a short review of a very long book. I ordered the book expecting more of a history of the British Navy, but this is more of a history of Britain with respect to its navy. It is still excellent and authoritative, just different than I expected. I really appreciate a somewhat different perspective than I have found in some other books. For example, any discussion of Jackie Fisher I have read previously seemed to border on the hagiographic, whereas here he seems to get a very evenhanded appraisal. A great book, highly recommended.
