Trichocereus Pachanoi "PC" cactus are by far the most commonly grown, and sold Trichocereus in the United States.  What does PC mean? PC is short for Predominant Cultivar. This means they were and are the most widely commercially grown trichs within the nursery business here on the west coast of the states. Why?  They are prolific flower bloomers. AWESOME majestic flowers, great for all the critters that will be attracted to their fragrant scent from bees to bats and of course people! They are great as landscape specimens. If you are driving around the West Coast and encounter giant cactus growing in front of a library, restaurant or office building, it's a good chance it's Trichocereus PC. Same goes for the thousands and thousands of other homes and buildings that take advantage of their unique columns to add that special touch in creative landscaping.  They are popular within both the nursery and landscaping world for their ability to thrive in a variety of environmental conditions. They are one of the easiest, and therefore one of the most common columnar cactus propagated by nurseries in the United States, often used in commercial and residential landscaping, oops I already said that! Occasionally but not often, some of the big box stores across the country may offer them, often labeled as San Pedro, the common name for many Trichocereus cactus associated with South American origins. We're happy to say we sell and ship our cactus all over the states all year round!

PC is also highly popular amongst cactus grafters, that's where an expensive, rare and or super slow growing cactus specimen is grown on top of another cactus. Super cool and interesting growing technique that has been popular all over the world by both hobbyists and commercial growers. Even my kids like to graft!

PC is a great cheaper entry level Trichocereus into the collection hobby, but there are so many other super cool trichs like spiny Bridgesii, smoother Pachanoi, bluer Peruvianus, exotic hybrids and on and on.  Never hesitate to ask questions, we're here to support ya!

Below is more info and options we have, and we're always open to custom and wholesale pc orders too.

**Large and heavy middle cuts are sold approx. 15-20 lb lots. You may get 2-5 pieces based on stock. If pieces appear dehydrated, it means you’ll get more cutts and you’re not paying for water! If youd prefer more smaller, or less and bigger, please make a note during checkout. These will likely be discolored, scarred, sunburned, marked etc. Often one side will be heavily discolored if it's been laying on its side for too long, simply cosmetic,  and even sunburned cutts may appear bad, they will still push out new pups. *Best practice is to place the sunburned side away from sun, allowing other side to better photosynthesis. Just repeating, grafting stock doesnt need to be pretty, especially in the bulk weight listings  They are not show plants!  They are from hard grown areas and will greatly benefit from Fresh soil and shade and consistent watering. Colors will return to darker green over time if given some tlc as just mentioned.  The bigger and heavier the cutting, the more growth you can expect on your grafts. Lots of great videos out there on youtube etc.

** PC tips potted in 4” containers will vary by heights and width, some may show stretched tips which is normal during winter slower growth here, they’re gonna get sliced off regardless, just an fyi per a customer was expecting all fat tips.

Generally, if you are new to grafting, tip cutts are preferred as they're soft and easy to work with. Some like mids because they will wait for new tips to form and graft on those.  Have fun, grafting is relaxing and rewarding!

Check other listings for Exact potted options, as well as Bulk Lots.

These are Not Show Specimens, they likely have flaws, scars, dings, dents and spots, normal outdoor grown blemishes, they are mainly grafting stock, but that being said, PC are cool!

These ornamental Trichocereus cuttings are ready to be potted and rooted.  Give cacti propagation a start, you don't have to be a crazy smart botanist to grow beautiful cactus from cuttings! Why cuttings vs potted?   Time and cost!  Propagating via cutting cactus is the fastest and most economical way for commercial nursery growers to expand stock.  It eliminates months and years of waiting for seedlings to grow to appropriate selling size. This cost in growing can then be passed onto the seller.  You simply do the work on rooting and you learn a valuable lesson in growing and caring for cacti!

These specific cuttings will come from a variety of locations on our nursery, some in full sun, some partial, some in shade all day.  Sunlight, shade, soil, watering, fertilizer etc. are all factors  that determine the color of these cuttings, full sun tend to be lighter, full shade are darker.  They are not perfect, they will have blemishes, spots, splotches, scratches, mark's, scars, etc.  They are cactus!  Please check out our exact potted cactus if you are looking for collection specimens.

Generally will be cut fresh after sale is completed, but often we have cut and readied as our turnover can be very quick at times.  Please allow us a week or so to allow proper drying for safe shipping(sometimes during colder/wetter months this may take longer than warm/dry months).  Please see our Blog on propagating cactus cuttings to help get your investment rooted.

*** The following is not the norm but it's always a possibility.  Times and success with rooting can vary based on multiple factors including time of year, temps, soil etc.  Sometimes ends may arrive discolored, not an issue if its DRY. If a little mushy, follow our blog and slice off small section and start drying process all over. If some mold on the end, read our Blog and wash and dry and slice if needed.  Your cactus cutting is not ruined because of any of these reasons, it's an opportunity to learn and become an experienced propagation expert.   If this is too overwhelming for you, we kindly and respectfully ask that you not order from us as we want all of our customers to be happy!

Handle with CARE  and please see our FAQ for basic care info.

More info.    https://thesucculentsource.com/pages/cactus-cuttings-faq

**Cactus are not perfect, they may have small flaws, we try and photograph all sides of a cactus including any flaws that catch our attention, but please do not expect every spine to be perfect, these are growing cactus and like people, they have character!

An insightful concise book by Vansant
Format: Paperback
In this NORMANDY 102-page full-color trade, in 15 chapters of 6 to 10 pages each, Vansant covers various chronological aspects of the Normandy invasion, from U.S. entry into the war in Europe, up through planning and execution of "Operation Overlord", the final Normandy seige with gliders, paratroopers, air combat and the beach invasions, the liberation of Paris from the Nazis, up through August 1944. Vansant's NORMANDY is remarkably informative for such a concise volume. And its attention to detail in accurately illustrating uniforms, tanks and planes is greatly appreciated. My one complaint is the 6" by 9" size of the book. I would have preferred a standard 7" X 10" size trade, that is the standard for comic book trade collections. It is a sturdy book with a tight binding, and a slightly larger size would make the book to be less difficult to pry open, and the art easier to appreciate in a larger size. I also wish Vansant had included more panels of maps, detailing the movements of troops at points througout the vast scope of what is described in NORMANDY. Vansant's work is worth seeking out, in its accurate portrayal of various battles throughout history, from the Nazi battles, to the Civil War, to the Pacific War. And as far as I know, Vansant got his start illustrating the Vietnam war in Marvel's THE 'NAM for several years, back in the mid/late 1980's. And two other World War II stories in SAVAGE TALES (1987) issues 7("Tiger Tiger", about a Panzer tank fighting in Russia) and 8 ("Chindits", about British jungle fighters in Burma in 1944). Vansant's newer work is slightly rougher than his 80's/90's work, but still very precise and detailed. I'd compare his work to that of Sam Glanzman, Gray Morrow, John Severin and Michael Golden. And it's great to see a comics illustrator drawing war stories that makes an effort to tell a story with more than just a riproaring action story, but one where you walk away with factual information about actual combat. Chapter 14 ,"The Killing Ground", hit me especially hard in portraying the bloodbath horrors of war. I wouldn't want to be one of the Nazis in that bombarded field of 10,000 bodies. I previously purchased BATTLE GROUP PEIPER by Vansant(1991) , which despite being in black-and-white and a shorter 32-page historical comic book, was in some ways more interesting to me than NORMANDY, because it followed one Waffen SS commander (Peiper) through the weeks of Battle of the Bulge. (Peiper is breifly mentioned in the NORMANDY book, although "Battle of the Bulge" events in BATTLE GROUP PEIPER occur after the events depicted in NORMANDY.) The only other weakness (unlike the 1991 separate 32-page BATTLE GROUP PEIPER story I mentioned above) is that in the scope of the 102-page NORMANDY book it focuses on an overview narrative, rather than spending any length of time on any one soldier or commander, and is therefore less personal than BATTLE GROUP PEIPER is. And is more of an overview synopsis. But still loaded with compelling and informative history.

The "comic book" of my youth grows up.
Format: Paperback
Hey, you've got to love these new "Graphic Novels" of the present day. Way back in the day of he 1950s and 60s, I used to scoop up change wherever it was left laying about( no, not service tips and I didn't steal from my family or friends, but I always saved the change and kept it when it was ok...) I could go to the news stand and for a dime or less, all of the DC comic heroes were mine...and Sgt. Rock, the Haunted Tank, Gunner and Sarge( BUDDA- BUDDA) , were all mine too. Art work was great, stories good to....to a kid and it seem to more than a few adults too. I remember the shock when the costs went to 12 cents...then to 15 cents...then girls and life came along and the comics stayed in boxes in the basement. But the comic book survived. Now they are larger, better printed, perfectly bound with stiffer covers...and a bit more costly..but worth it. And there's a myriad of novels to select from. So I'm collecting comics again, it seems. And the term " comics" does not apply any longer, if it did back in the day! No comedy in these stories told now..."graphic" is a better description...but not lurid or extreme as the old " pre- code comics" were. This graphic novel is the story of the Allied forces and their endeavors from June 5 through early August 1944, the Normandy Campaign. It's in full color and GRAPHIC detail of the carnage faced by the line soldiers of both sides in battle. Historically it's right on the button for dates, locations, quotations, etc. Equipment is shown correctly in version, color and useage. The historical events are explained so that anyone of any age who can read will learn and be entertained. Bach in my day ( here we go again), there was a series on comics of this same nature put out by Dell Publishing on WWII historical events. Detail, color, etc. just as we have in this modern publication, but in a smaller size. The Bataan Death March, Pearl Harbor, John Kennedy and PT-109 , and so on we're a few of those topics..boy, I wish Mom hadn't cleaned out the box I had of those... I even recall the artist who illustrated most of those comics, a Navy destroyer veteran named Sam Glanszman. The illustrators of this book are in the same league as Sam! Don't miss this one. If more military history is to be done in this format, they've got my pocket change !

An interesting and detailed graphic novel that tells the story of the Normandy invasion.
Format: Paperback
One of the most important battles of World War 11 was D-Day. This excellent illustrated graphic novel covers the Normandy invasion in more detail than I expected. The main generals and other important figures are mentioned in this book. The decisions that were made which turned the battle for the Allied forces are explained, as well as Hitler's mistake of not listening to his Generals makes this book a great read. The book is organized into fifteen chapters. They are as follows: Chapter (1) Second Front Now. (2) How peaceful the land looked. (3) Hitting the beaches. (4) Blooding Omaha. (5) The skin of their teeth. ((6) The tigers of Villers-Bocage. (7) Death in the Hedgerows. (8) The devil's children. (9) The capital of ruins. (10) Blood and thunder. (11) The cobra strikes. (12) "Come and get us!" (13) Third army rampage. (14) The killing ground. (15) :Aux barricades!" In conclusion, this beautifully illustrated graphic novel will be of interest to anyone who desires a brief overview of this important World War 11 battle, which was the turning point in the war. It may motivate readers to seek out more detailed information on the Normandy invasion. Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. This one's in color
Format: Paperback
This book was glorious. It presented the invasion vividly. The Allied forces sure kicked Rommel's butt, and although the American forces had many casualties, the Germans were defeated. After the Allies liberated France, people revealed hidden Tri-Color French flags. I was interested to learn about the problem of French hedgerows and how an American sargent (Curtis Cullin) improvised a brush-cutter out of the beach barricades in order to leave the tanks less vulnerable as they crossed the fields. Thank you Curtis! The book also talked about a German tank commander named Michael Wittmann and his Tiger tank. This was a powerful weapon that destroyed a group of Shermans very quickly and then took out part of a convoy. The allies finished him off by using British Fireflies (a British type of tank) that sent a disabling shot into the tank. Michael Wittman and his crew escaped. There was good tank action in this book. It feels like you're stuck in the middle of battle, but you're safe. But you're watching in horror. The drawings of the Avro Lancasters were really great. That's my favorite British plane. The air war made the difference in the invasion's success. If it weren't for the RAF and the Allied air forces, the invasion might not have succeeded. I'm eleven years old, and this is a really good book. I learned a lot. This book had really good maps, and it was in color. That helped me a lot. The blood was not too bloody -- just scribbles. Parent note: my son says blood and guts included.

Great read for a WWII enthusiast
Format: Paperback
Purchased for my nephew who is 11 and a WWII aficionado, "Bombing Nazi Germany" and "Normandy" did not disappoint. While I got him the graphic novels because he is a visual kid, he really enjoyed the text. Which is good because there is a lot of text. I am an avid reader of graphic novels and found these books to be more text-driven than much of what I've read. That said, the prose is solid, unadorned, and moves the narrative smoothly from pane to pane. I recommend this for anyone fascinated by war histories who also values detailed illustrations of the same.
