Care Guide - Easy for Tropical Plant Lovers

  • Light: Bright, indirect light maintains vibrant coloration. Tolerates medium light but may lose vibrancy. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent leaf scorch.
  • Water: Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow top inch to dry between waterings.
  • Humidity: Thrives in high humidity (60%+). Mist regularly or use a humidifier for best results.
  • Temperature: Prefers 65-80°F. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 60°F.
  • Soil: Well-draining potting mix rich in organic matter (tropical plant formula recommended).
  • Feeding: Fertilize every 4-6 weeks during spring/summer with balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce in fall/winter.

Common Questions

Why are the leaf edges turning brown?
Usually caused by low humidity, inconsistent watering, or drafts. Increase humidity and maintain consistent moisture levels.

Does it go dormant?
Yes, like many Alocasias, it may rest during colder months. Reduce watering and feeding until new growth appears in spring.

How do I propagate it?
Through rhizome division. Ensure each division has healthy roots and at least one growth point.

Is it pet-safe?
No, Alocasias contain calcium oxalate crystals and should be kept away from pets and children.

Our dogs hurt their mouths chewing these bones
Color: Purple & Blue
I don't do a lot of reviews because I realize many are objective opinions. However, in this case I felt it was necessary to warn others. Our dogs are aggressive chewers. Their last rubber bones (not these) which we've purchased before, and recently purchased again, were destroyed quickly. Chunks of rubber came off the ends. Since those didn't hold up like they used to, I found these harder bones hoping they would last longer. They were able to gnaw into the hard plastic within a few minutes. This created sharp edges that cut their mouths. When I saw a bit of blood on the bones, I took them away from the dogs and threw them away. I wondered why they quit chewing on them after being so excited at first. Also, these are hard enough to damage a tooth.
