The big leaves are prone to tearing as they are just so large. Best snip out any that have seen better days and await new great ones.

No need to spend more money, all the quality and longevity can be had with this filter. My wife drives her car almost every day and that means it gets a pretty good amount of use and lasts about 12 months until I decide to change them again.
