The flowers are hibiscus like and once they die down they leave a red cone shaped fruit (see picture) which is the part used.
Sow in Spring and Summer - Only suitable for warm climates with no frosts or in cool areas with a long warm season (atleast 6 months). Perennial in tropical climates, Annual in cool regions Sow 5mm, seedlings emerge 10-14 days, space 50cm apart, best germination if soil is atleast 18 degrees. Harvest when fruits are young for best tenderness.
