Graptosedum 'Alpenglow' is of the genus Graptosedum in the Crassulaceae family native to Mexico. It is an intergeneric hybrid resulting from the cross between Graptosedum paraguayensis and Sedum stahlii. The plant shape is very similar to the hazel moon of the genus Pinellia. The petals are waxed and the leaves are arranged in an extended rosette of white powder.

The leaves are usually green with vermilion tinged with red brown when there is sufficient sunlight, and the leaves are melon-shaped with pointed ends and small yellow star-shaped flowers. The waxy leaves with a special color, in full sunlight conditions, appear attractive deep red. In low light, the color will become dull and the stems will elongate. It can absorb formaldehyde and purify the air.

Care Tips

Light: It needs plenty of light in spring and fall, otherwise it will cause the plant to have excessive growth of branches, cause it to lose its shape, thin the leaves, dull the color of the leaves, and reduce the white powder on the leaf surface.

Water: Watering master the principle of "not dry, not watering" to avoid potting soil water. The center of the leaf cluster should not be waterlogged, otherwise it will cause rotten, especially to avoid long-term rain. During hot summer time moderate watering, this time basically you do not need to water, you can spray the plant with appropriate water to cool down.

Soil: Is mainly loose and breathable loam, so the soil for potted plants can be mixed with sandy loam and coarse sand, and the right amount of fertilizer can be added to the soil as a nutrient for growth.

Potting: It is recommended to use ceramic pots. Ceramic pots have a certain degree of permeability. Clay pots lose water too quickly, plastic pots tend to retain water for too long and permeability is poor.

Temperature: Once the temperature is higher than 95°F (35 ℃), you will need to use shade, or there is a risk of sunburn, and then slowly cut off water, the entire summer dormant period less water or no water, by Mid-September when the temperature comes down and you will start to resume watering. Winter, if the temperature can be maintained above 32°F(0 ℃) , is able to give water. If it's below 32°F (0 ℃) then you need to cut off water, otherwise it is easy to frostbite rotten roots.

Humidity: Alpenglow grows well in average household humidity levels when grown indoors. Prefers a drier environment. Normal household humidity is good for this plant.

    Care Instructions

Please visit our Succulent Care info page for more details.

To ensure the health of succulents, it is important to plant them in porous, well-draining soil. Succulents require little watering, but don't like to sit in wet soil. To create an adequate cactus mix, simply add pumice, perlite, or grit to cactus soil to provide the proper drainage.

Make sure to leave drought periods between waterings to prevent the plant from water-logging.

      Fun toy
      Pattern Name: Checkered
This was a very fun toy but didn't last too long with our 1-year-old lab who is an aggressive chewer.

      Our German Sheppard loves these
      Size: Medium
These cost a bit more than tennis balls, but they are so much nicer and longer lasting. For starters, they stay cleaner than tennis balls because they’re smooth rubber. Dirt won’t build up on them and if anything does stick, like grass or soil, it falls off once the dog slobber dries. They’re also thick, so they don’t fall apart or blow out like a normal tennis ball does in our dog’s jaws after 30 seconds. Our GS chomps on these like crazy and the only damage they’ve suffered is a crack that developed from the edge of the hole, but the crack is growing very slowly and none of these balls have totally failed yet. The balls do whistle when thrown ant high speed and that may help a dog track and locate it, but I’m not sure. Our neighbors hear the whistling too so it’s far from silent. Lastly the orange ball is easy to locate out in our yard, but the dark blue practically disappears.

      Great for smaller dogs
      Size: Small
These two balls are perfect for the smaller mouthed dog that loves to play fetch. These balls are not only super durable (lots of teeth biting), but float in the baby pool we use for our miniature dachshunds. The value here is much better than you’d find anywhere else. The noise, if bitten hard enough, was “low” at best. Easy to spot/find if overthrown. Will definitely buy again once these are in bad repair; so far, so good-love these for my fur babies!

      My dogs favorite balls
      Size: Medium
These are great for my dog who always has to have a ball in her mouth. Not too hard so I don't have to worry about her teeth. They last for ever. They do lose their shape a little over time (like I said, she always has a ball in her mouth) they become a little oval in shape. They still bounce, she still chases it and she still chews on it so I don't think she notices or cares. I've gotten her a bag full of these over time and I have only seen one that she chewed a chunk out.
