Taraxacum officinale, the dandelion or common dandelion, is a flowering herbaceous perennial plant of the dandelion genus in the family Asteraceae (syn. Compositae). The common dandelion is well known for its yellow flower heads that turn into round balls of many silver-tufted fruits that disperse in the wind. These balls are usually called "clocks" in both British and American English. The name "blowball" is also used.

The common dandelion grows in temperate regions of the world in areas with moist soils. It is most often considered a weed, especially in lawns and along roadsides, but the leaves, flowers, and roots are sometimes used in herbal medicine and as food.

araxacum officinale grows from (generally unbranched) taproots and produces several hollow, leafless flower stems: 470  that are typically 5–40 centimetres (2–15+3⁄4 inches) tall, but sometimes up to 70 cm (28 in) tall. The stems can be tinted purplish, they are upright or lax, and produce flower heads that are held as tall or taller than the foliage. The foliage may be upright-growing or horizontally spreading; the leaves have petioles that are either unwinged or narrowly winged. The stems can be glabrous or sparsely covered with short hairs. Plants have milky latex and the leaves are all basal; each flowering stem lacks bracts and has one single flower head. The yellow flower heads lack receptacle bracts and all the flowers, which are called florets, are ligulate and bisexual. In many lineages, fruits are mostly produced by apomixis, notwithstanding the flowers are visited by many types of insects.

The leaves are 5–45 cm (2–17+3⁄4 in) long and 1–10 cm (1⁄2–4 in) wide, and are oblanceolate, oblong, or obovate in shape, with the bases gradually narrowing to the petiole. The leaf margins are typically shallowly lobed to deeply lobed and often lacerate or toothed with sharp or dull teeth.

The calyculi (the cuplike bracts that hold the florets) are composed of 12 to 18 segments: each segment is reflexed and sometimes glaucous. The lanceolate shaped bractlets are in two series, with the apices acuminate in shape. The 14–25 millimetres (1⁄2–1 in) wide involucres are green to dark green or brownish-green, with the tips dark gray or purplish. The florets number 40 to over 100 per head, having corollas that are yellow or orange-yellow in color.

The fruits, called cypselae, range in color from olive-green or olive-brown to straw-colored to grayish, they are oblanceoloid in shape and 2–3 mm (1⁄16–1⁄8 in) long with slender beaks. The fruits have 4 to 12 ribs that have sharp edges. The silky pappi, which form the parachutes, are white to silver-white in color and around 6 mm wide. Plants typically have 24 or 40 pairs of chromosomes, while some have 16 or 32 pairs.

Best paste and taste
Every once in a while you run into a product of true quality. Time is expensive currency so we’ll keep it concise. This is the best tooth paste we’ve ever tried. All good quality ingredients fluoride free. First thing we noticed is how quick it works, it cleans your teeth super quick used with electric toothbrush cutting brushing time considerably. Leaves mouth feeling clean and smooth plus great taste. A lot of new advanced products in self care tend to have chemical type scents and textures but this tooth paste has a pleasant feel and taste, we got coco ginger. Will buy again.

Tastes great, works great
I love this toothpaste! I’m so happy to have a toothpaste that isn’t mint-flavored. FLAVOR: The taste and smell are so good — the coco ginger flavor is delicious and I legitimately look forward to the taste of it. I was worried that the ginger might be strong/spicy, but it’s nicely balanced. The lavender lemon flavor is also pretty good, like a lemon pastry. The elamint flavor tastes like regular mint toothpaste, just maybe slightly more herbal. SENSITIVITY: I’ve had to use sensitive toothpaste for many years. Any time I switched off it, I would start experiencing sensitivity again within a week or so. I’m really happy to report that this toothpaste offers great sensitivity and enamel protection. WHITENING: I don’t feel that this toothpaste is contributing much in terms of whitening. My previous toothpaste had gentle whitening, and I do feel like I could tell it was working. While my teeth haven’t gotten less white since I switched to Boka, I don’t think they’ve gotten any whiter either. That’s okay with me — the flavor and sensitivity protection are worth it, and I can always do a whitening treatment in the future if I ever feel I need to. TEXTURE: The texture is just like normal toothpaste and brushing with it feels the same as any other toothpaste. It works great with both my manual toothbrush and my electric toothbrush. TUBE: The tube is really nice and sturdy. I like the design of the tube a lot. The text and color scheme are fairly minimalist, and I like that the cap has a wide base so the tube can stand upright. It looks nice on my bathroom shelf. My only small complaint is that it gets harder and harder to squeeze the toothpaste out once the tube is less than half full. Since the tube is so sturdy, it can’t be rolled and folded to get the paste out. I think this issue could probably be resolved easily with one of those squeezing tools, though. I’ll report back if I try it. SIZES: I love that it’s available in both a regular size and a little travel size. I also loved that the travel size allowed me to try out this toothpaste before committing to a whole large one. (Don’t worry, the tube in my photos was full when it arrived! I’ve used half of it.) Overall I highly recommend this toothpaste! I will absolutely buy it again.

Taste Great
This is a great tasting all natural toothpaste that actually does what it claims. My teeth feel so clean and fresh after brushing and the whitening is immediately noticeable, something that caught me by surprise. It's super easy to use and functional like any other toothpaste but without all the foaming at mouth. The ingredients are natural and it's fluoride free. I was looking for more of the ginger to come through but sadly it's hardly noticeable. I do like it but will try the other flavors next time.

Favorite toothpaste! Love the Ginger Flavor
This is my favorite toothpaste! I have very sensitive teeth and this has improved that sensitivity quite a bit. I like that Boka offers many different flavors that aren't typical "kid flavors." I know some folks, especially neurodiverse, are averse to mint and the ginger is nice and refreshing without being overpowering. Nano toothpaste is easy to use, doesn't require water even, and is a nice consistency like a gel. No gritty feeling like with typical toothpaste. My dentist was please with my teeth last time I visited after using for 6 months, so it's doing what it's supposed to do.
