Graptoveria 'Fred Ives' is a striking and colorful succulent that forms spreading clumps of large rosettes, up to 30 cm in diameter, made up of fleshy, smooth, and waxy leaves. The leaves, which are about 15 cm long and 6 cm wide, are pointed, oblong, and slightly keeled at the lower surface, and their color can range from green to blue-grey, salmon, coral, or yellow, depending on the seasons, temperature, and sun exposure. The rosettes are borne at the end of short stems that can grow up to 30 cm long and 3 cm in diameter and have pronounced leaf scars.

Originating from a cross between Graptopetalum paraguayense and a plant in the Echeveria gibbiflora complex, Graptoveria 'Fred Ives' is a hybrid created by Albert Baynes in 1946 and named after Fred Ives of Shipley, Yorkshire, by van Keppel in 1979.

When it comes to caring for Graptoveria 'Fred Ives', the rules are similar to those for most succulents. These plants thrive in a well-draining mixture of peat, sand or other grit, topsoil, and a little bit of compost, and require excellent drainage and moderate watering. They can tolerate full sun but can also grow in partial sun with slightly rangy results. Graptoveria 'Fred Ives' is an easy plant to propagate by seeds, leaf cuttings, or offsets, and any rosette that breaks off has the potential to root and start a new plant.

Graptoveria 'Fred Ives' requires a substantial amount of light to thrive, and should receive at least four to five hours of bright, direct light on a daily basis. Overall it is a unique and stunning succulent that will add a pop of color and texture to any collection. With a little bit of care and attention, it will reward its owner with striking rosettes that change color throughout the year.

Crinkley Paper Should Not be Ingested
Pattern Name: Donkey, Pattern Name: Donkey
This thing was cute as can be, and for awhile my dogs got some good play time out of it. But I was somewhat mortified when I saw torn up pieces of the "crinkley paper" all over my living room carpet. It is like a crunchy Saran Wrap, definitely not something a dog should be potentially ingesting. They can say the toy is tough and durable, but it ultimately is not, so it matters what is inside it. I really can't believe they would put something like that inside a toy. As soon as I saw it, I immediately threw the toy in the garbage. All dog toys have something inside them that is pretty non-digestible, but this plastic seemed particularly wreckless to me. So cute or not, I cannot recommend this toy and will not buy from this manufacturer again.
