White, Black, and Tan Sesame is drought tolerant and will do fine in poor soil conditions. Depending on when you plant, Sesame will bloom from late Spring to frost. Sesame seed heads are fascinating and completely breathtaking. They are easy to harvest and clean with fans, colanders and screens. I just dry out the pods on large cookie sheets, which removes about 1/3 of the seeds. When completely dry, I put the pods in a ziplock bag, and shake it when I want seeds. The seeds settle in the bottom of theSesame's bag.
