Like other vines, Scindapsus pictus ' Argyraeus ' has a natural tendency to climb. The silver vine can twine around plant supports or walls, creating a tropical atmosphere at home. Pictus means 'painted' in Latin and refers to the silvery spots on the vine's leaves.

Caring for satin pothos

One of the great advantages of satin pothos is that it is relatively easy to care for, especially when grown in good potting soil . Silver vine thrives in indirect sunlight and shade. The vine needs to dry out between waterings. Normal room temperature is excellent. To allow the silver vine to climb beautifully, a moss pole is recommended.

Origin

From Bangladesh to Malaysia and the island region, Scindapsus pictus climbs best in warm, humid rainforests. Scindapsus pictus belongs to the aroid plant family.

Appearance

The scindapsus pictus has matte leaves with silvery variegated spots that sparkle in the light. If the vine grows on a support, the leaves lie flat against the substrate, giving the plant a very unusual appearance. On the stem there are small 'nodes' where aerial roots grow.

Plant type

The satin pothos has an incredible ability to climb almost anything, but it likes a support the most. Then the vine can attach its aerial roots and climb upwards very quickly. Without a support, the vine hangs downwards and can be grown as a hanging plant in a hanging basket or from a growing shelf. The satin pothos grows up to 3 m long.

Propagation

Take cuttings by cutting a 10-15 cm long piece of stem from the top of the plant. Place the cutting in water or moist sphagnum moss until it roots and can then be planted directly in soil. Scindapsus pictus, like many other aroid plants, rarely flowers indoors and is mainly propagated via cuttings when the vine is grown as a potted plant.

Survived my dog… which almost nothing does!
Size: Medium, Color: Watermelon, Size: Medium, Color: Watermelon
I have a pit mix who is an expert-level destroyer of squeaky toys. Most “durable” toys last her maybe 5–15 minutes before the squeaker is gone. This one lasted a full HOUR of play (constant squeaking, chewing, and trying to find a weak spot) and she still didn’t manage to break it. That’s honestly unheard of for her. What I like: The flat shape makes it hard for her to get a good “kill grip” The squeaker isn’t easy to isolate and destroy It keeps her engaged instead of just ripping it open immediately She actually spent a lot of time just booping it with her nose to make it squeak, which she loves. I ended up putting it away before she could eventually destroy it, and I’ll be rotating it to make it last longer. It’s now a high-value toy in our house. If you have a dog that destroys every squeaky toy in minutes, this is absolutely worth trying. I’m already planning to buy more from this line.

Not for aggressive chewers
Size: Medium, Color: Carrot
This product is pretty strong, but my dog tore it apart in 5 minutes. The size is great, and my dog loved tearing it apart. I wish it lasted longer.

Lifesaver for playtime
This toy is AMAZING. My dog still loves to play with it every week, and somehow by magic it hasn't been broken once. We have had it for 9 months, that is a record for toys in our house. If you are on the fence, just get it already. Ours doesn't squeak anymore obviously, but we still play tug a war with it a lot and it flops and bends and bounces just fine!!
