Sweet Plum Bonsai, scientifically known as Sageretia theezans, also known as Chinese Sweet Plum or Bird Plum, is a highly prized indoor bonsai celebrated for its small, finely toothed leaves and rich, textured bark. Native to China and Southeast Asia, this elegant tree produces foliage that emerges deep reddish before maturing to vibrant green, creating beautiful seasonal contrast. In spring and summer, clusters of tiny yellowish flowers appear, followed by small, edible blue plums in fall. As a monoecious species, it self-pollinates, making fruiting possible even with a single tree. Compact, detailed, and rewarding, Sweet Plum is a favourite among bonsai enthusiasts.
