Lilium 'Empoli' is a showstopping stunner that grows taller and more beautiful with each passing year, reaching its mature size of 4 to 5 feet tall by year 3 in the garden. It blooms early to midsummer, setting intensely colored flowers on leafy green stalks, which are quite attractive even when not in bloom. The fragrant flowers are so large and colorful, they look as if they came straight out of a fairytale, with their rosy red petals, bright yellow center star, and bouquet of prominent stamens. And this generous tree lily will provide plenty of blooms for garden and vase.

A Lilium x asiaticum species, commonly called Asiatic lily or tree lily, 'Empoli' is a resilient, winter-hardy perennial (Zones 3-8) that can remain in the ground throughout the winter months. With its upright growth habit, 'Empoli' makes a dramatic statement when planted in groups or masses, enhancing beds, borders, patio pots, and containers. Its vibrant blooms make this tree lily an essential addition to any cutting garden as they produce stunning cut flowers. Just be sure to leave 2/3 of the stem intact to support bulb regeneration for the next season.

'Empoli' tree lilies thrive in sunny locations with 6 to 8 hours of sunlight but will also tolerate partial shade. To ensure their best growth, mulch the soil to maintain a cool root zone and plant low-growing companions to provide shade at their base. Tree lilies prefer rich, organic, and well-draining soil but grow well in average garden soil. Keep the soil moderately moist—avoid letting it dry out completely or become overly wet, which could cause bulb rot. Deadhead spent blooms promptly but wait until foliage and stems turn yellow before cutting them back to allow bulbs to replenish for next year's growth. Tree lilies are resistant to deer and other critters, making them a dependable garden choice.

Plant 'Empoli' tree lily bulbs 8 to 12 inches apart and 6 to 8 inches deep in early spring for vibrant summer blooms.

My Golden Retriever’s favorite
We’ve owned lots of toys and balls. This specific version (in blue) has been her absolute favorite. She’s about 72lbs and chews on this thing regularly with no visible damage. We actually own about 6 of them because they have a tendency to go missing underneath furniture and in the yard. We have two of the orange colored ones but she doesn’t like those nearly as much which I assume is because the blue is easier to see in the grass. Other than that…They bounce really well and also whistle a little when you throw them hard enough. I hope they never stop making these.

doesn't whistle as loud as other chuckit balls I've seen, but a good ball.
makes some noise, but I've seen (and played with) others at the dog park that whistle much louder than the 1 I got. all Chuckit balls... so, just this one I'm betting. but it flys good and the dog loves to chase it. he chews it a fair bit as well and the ball has not taken much damage from him (lab mix) or others that have had a go at it. I'll likely buy another at some point ... just wish it was a little louder when flying.

Blue ball, my dog likes blue.
Just a ball right? Evidently not! My dog won’t chase an orange chuck it ball or the glow in the dark ball- only the blue one 🤷🏼‍♀️
