Product Name: Oxalis Insecticide
Technical Name: Fipronil 15% + Flonicamid 15% WDG
Product Type: Insecticide
Brand Name: SWAL
Product Overview:
SWAL Oxalis is a systemic insecticide in Water Dispersible Granules (WDG) formulation, combining two active ingredients: Fipronil 15% + Flonicamid 15%. It is designed primarily for use in cotton to control both sucking pests (such as aphids, jassids, thrips, whiteflies, mealybugs) and chewing/life-stage pests like bollworms. It works via a dual mode of action: blocking GABA-gated chloride channels (via fipronil) and acting as a feeding blocker (via flonicamid) to reduce damage.
Summary:
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Formulation Type | WDG (Water Dispersible Granules) |
| Mode of Action | Dual mode:• Fipronil disrupts/inhibits GABAA-gated chloride channels in insect nervous system leading to paralysis/death • Flonicamid acts as a feeding blocker, reducing pest feeding activity leading to starvation/damage reduction |
| Major Crop(s) | Cotton |
| Target Pests | Aphids; Jassids; Thrips; Whiteflies; Mealy Bugs; Bollworms |
| Dosage / Rate | 160 grams per acre |
| Application Method | Foliar spray (diluted in water, dispersed over crop canopy) |
| Properties / Special Features | • Systemic action: protects new growth as well as existing foliage • Dual-action (nervous system + feeding blocker) for more comprehensive control • Effective especially for cotton pest complex |
Benefits:
- Dual Action - Combines two modes of action: Fipronil (blocks GABA-gated chloride channels) kills on contact/systemically, while Flonicamid works as a feeding blocker.
- Broad Spectrum Control of Sucking & Some Chewing Pests -Effective against aphids, jassids, thrips, whiteflies, mealybugs, and bollworms.
- Systemic Protection - Protects new growth as well as existing foliage, helping prevent reinfestation.
- Long-Lasting Effect - Helps reduce frequency of sprays because of residual control.
- Reduced Crop Damage & Higher Yield - Because it stops feeding early, pest damage is minimized, preserving crop health and yields.
- IPM Friendly - Suits integration with other pest management practices; dual action and selectivity help manage resistance better.
