Aglaonema ‘Spring Red’ XL (P19) | Fast EU shipping | Grown with love in the EU | Pet-safe
Summary: Aglaonema ‘Spring Red’ XL offers lush, robust foliage with deep green leaves streaked in silvery patterns and dramatic red veins—an instant bold centrepiece for large European interiors.
✨ Why You'll Love the ‘Spring Red’ XL
- Bold, large foliage up to 55 cm tall in a P19 pot—makes an architectural statement
- Striking leaf contrast: silvery-green variegation enhanced by vivid red veins and stems
- Low-maintenance yet eye-catching—ideal for offices, living rooms or open-plan spaces
- Completely pet-safe—perfect for German and wider EU homes with cats and dogs
🌞 Light & Placement
Prefers bright, indirect light. Tolerates lower light conditions, though vivid leaf coloration intensifies in moderate brightness. Avoid harsh direct sun, especially through south-facing windows.
💧 Water & Humidity
Water when the top 2 cm of soil is dry. Keep consistently moist but not waterlogged. Thrives in moderate to high humidity—mist occasionally or use a pebble tray in drier indoor climates.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Use a well‑draining aroid or potting mix enriched with perlite or orchid bark. XL plants like this benefit from occasional repotting—every 2–3 years in spring—into a container ~3–5 cm larger in diameter to maintain vigor.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Non-toxic to cats, dogs, and humans—safe for pet households. While overall safe, discourage chewing the foliage to avoid mild oral irritation.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
Moderate but steady grower; young clumps may eventually produce sprawling stems. Propagate by division during repotting—carefully separate root clusters to start new plants for friends across the EU.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
Active growth through spring and summer (20–25 °C); slow watering and skip fertiliser in winter. Remove faded or damaged leaves and wipe dust to maintain its striking appearance.
🐛 Common Issues
- Brown leaf edges: likely due to inconsistent watering or low humidity—adjust moisture and mist more.
- Yellow lower leaves: natural ageing or overwatering—trim off old leaves at the base.
- Leggy or sparse growth: move to brighter light and rotate occasionally for balanced shape.
🧬 Botanical Background
Aglaonema ‘Spring Red’ is a vibrant evergreen species prized for its splashy red stems and vein patterns contrasted against lush green foliage. The extra-large form (55 cm height in P19) enhances its tropical presence—perfect for dramatic impact in European interiors.
