Alocasia Potting Mix – open substrate for Alocasia roots and corms
Alocasia Potting Mix is built around the balance these plants need indoors: a medium that does not collapse around the corm, but still holds enough moisture for active leaves and new roots.
In the pot
- Open corm zone: structure around the base helps water move through
- Moisture buffer: keeps usable moisture without staying swampy
- Mineral fraction: supports drainage and pot stability
- Aroid texture: suits thicker tropical roots and keeps structure where a fine organic base tends to compact
Best use cases
The open texture gives thicker roots room to breathe, while moisture-holding ingredients slow down fast dry-outs between waterings. That balance is especially useful after delivery, division or routine repotting.
Size options
Even a good Alocasia mix can stay wet for too long in a container with too much unused soil. Keep the pot size close to the root system and adjust watering to light, temperature and current growth.
Setup and use
This mix is built around structure first. Use it as a complete potting mix, or blend it into a base soil to adjust airflow and drying speed.
Watering should match the pot size and root mass. Check moisture at depth and adjust your routine after the first few cycles.
Final notes
- Moisten dry components before potting so the mix settles evenly.
- Choose pot size for the root ball, not for the top growth.
- Top-dress with the same mix to reduce surface compaction.
