bonsai redbud tree Chinese Redbud - Cercis Chinensis SeedsIn its native habitat, Chinese redbud will often grow as a tree to 50' tall; however, in North America it normally grows smaller as an open, multi stemmed shrub. Similar to the eastern redbud, it has larger rose purple flowers and glossier heart shaped leaves with more deeply cordate leaf bases. It is also less winter hardy. The flowers appear in early spring before the leaves. Wonderful as a bonsai specimen! USDA Zone 10 Season to Sow Spring
