PLANTING

Catharanthus roseus

Annual

Germination: 5-10 days

Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 75-80ºF

Seed Planting Depth: Sow ⅛” deep

Starting Indoors:  Start indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost. Provide 75-85ºF soil temperature for germination. Transplant 8-12” apart after the last frost. 

Sowing Outdoors: Direct sowing is not recommended

Growth Habit: Rosettes

Height and Width: 12-16” x 10-12”  

Spacing: 6-12” apart

Light Needs: Full sun

Soil Needs: Average, well-drained 

Approximate days to flower from seed: Blooms in 90-100 days

Uses:  Flower beds and borders, mass plantings, containers and planters 

Care: Low maintenance, minimal care required. Apply a liquid fertilizer every 3-4 weeks or use a time-release fertilizer at planting time.
