Its large, leathery leaves are a vivid mosaic of deep green, bright yellow, orange, and red — all on the same plant, often on the same leaf — creating a display that looks almost too bold to be real. The intensity of the color deepens with more light, making a bright window the best place to let this plant truly perform.
Good for beginners? It requires more consistent care than beginner plants. Croton Petra needs bright light to hold its color and prefers consistent moisture and warmth. It can drop leaves when moved or stressed, but settles beautifully once established in the right spot.
Safe for cats and dogs? Croton is toxic to pets if ingested. The sap can also irritate skin — handle with care. Keep out of reach of cats and dogs.
