An heirloom variety used in many culinary traditions around the world, Florence, a native of Italy called finocchio, is grown as a bulb vegetable. Every part of the plant is edible, from seed to root. Bulbs can be cooked whole, diced to add to soups and stews, or sliced to grill. Celery-like stalks have a mild licorice flavor and can be eaten raw, added to salads, or steamed or roasted and served as a side dish. Feathery dill-like leaves can be used as a garnish or herb, substituting for dill, adding a faintly sweet flavor. The dried seeds, similar to aniseed, are used as an aromatic, anise-flavored spice, often flavoring fish and soups.

This herbaceous tender perennial, usually grown as an annual, is a member of the carrot family (Apiaceae). It grows as an upright branching plant reaching 3 feet tall, forming feathery, aromatic leaves, resembling a large dill plant. It attracts bees, butterflies, and many beneficial insects, including ladybugs. Open pollinated, it produces seed that will grow true to type, ideal for seed saving.

Easy to grow, the plant prefers full sun and organically rich, moist, well-drained soil with a pH of 5.5 to 6.8. It requires a steady supply of water and should not be allowed to dry out completely. Succession plantings every 2 to 3 weeks is recommended for continual harvest.

A cool-season vegetable, one of the first to be planted in the garden, it can be direct sown into the garden in early spring 2 to 3 weeks before the last frost date. It can also be sown in late summer for a fall harvest. Fennel tolerates heat but seeds germinate best when temperatures are around 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

Perfect for my dog
Color: Blue Puppy, Size: Medium Size 2
My dog (16 lb) LOVES to whip her toys around and throw them in the air to chase after them. This is the perfect toy for her to play outside by herself. I would repurchase for her over and over again if needed!

Pup loves this!
Color: Blue Puppy, Size: Medium Size 2
My pup loves his soccer balls. These are very durable although if you have a dog that doesn't grasp the concept of using the loops/straps to carry it, teeth could puncture it. They are a good value for the money if your dog likes to chase the ball, I get the smaller size ball for my dog (medium dog). They come with a pump but if you have a bicycle pump or a battery operated pump, it will fill much faster. Ours stay outside and even in the winter, they hold up well, just need a bit more air occasionally to keep it pumped up.

Well that didn't last long!
Color: Blue Puppy, Size: Medium Size 2
He loved it for the 15 minutes it took to destroy it! Cute design, but the material was thin enough to penetrate with his teeth and it was all over in a very short time! He still carries the carcass around and tries to play with it...it's sad. Definitely not for strong chewers.

Decent ball
Color: Blue Puppy, Size: Medium Size 2
Context: I have a busy, anxious Corgi. I like that it came with a pump to air it up. My dog likes the tag feature on it which made the ball easy to carry. She chewed off the tags pretty quick. She didn’t like herding this one as much. She prefers herding a basketball over this ball. The ball sits in the backyard through all the weather and elements and has held up pretty well. We’ve had it about a year and it’s still a good toy.
