Summary: Dieffenbachia ‘Reeva’ features striking large leaves with creamy champagne veins—this tropical beauty adds lush drama to well-lit corners in German homes, with moderate care needs.
✨ Why You'll Love It
- Striking statement plant with broad, patterned foliage—perfect for living rooms, hallways, or near lightly shaded windows.
- Height and drama: can reach up to 1.5 m tall—adds vertical impact without overwhelming medium spaces.
- Moderate care: easy to maintain in bright, indirect light and consistent moisture.
- Air-purifying qualities—enhances indoor air scent and visual appeal.
🌞 Light & Placement
Thrives in bright, indirect light; avoid direct sun to prevent leaf burn. Ideal near north- or east-facing windows in European flats.
💧 Water & Humidity
Keep soil evenly moist—water when the top 2 cm feels dry. Reduce watering slightly in winter. Prefers higher humidity—benefits from occasional misting or a pebble tray.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Use a nutrient-rich, well-draining potting mix. Repot every 2–3 years in spring or early summer to refresh soil and room for growth.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Warning: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested; keep out of reach of children and animals. Use caution when handling—use gloves if pruning or repotting.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
- Fast-growing cane plant—can quickly become a lush focal point in medium to large rooms.
- Propagate easily via stem cuttings in water or moist mix—allow cut ends to callus before planting.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
- Maintain temperatures between 18–24 °C—protect from drafts and cold.\
- Feed monthly with a balanced liquid fertilizer during spring and summer.
- Prune yellowing or damaged leaves to encourage fresh, variegated growth.
🐛 Common Issues
- Leaf yellowing: often from overwatering or poor light—adjust water or move to brighter spot.
- Pests like spider mites, aphids, or mealybugs can appear—treat early with mild insecticidal soap or neem spray.
🧬 Botanical Background
Dieffenbachia ‘Reeva’ is a cultivar of the classic Dumb Cane, renowned for its lush, patterned foliage and upright growth habit. Native to tropical Americas, it brings a touch of exotic flair to European interiors.
