Hoya Sweetheart Variegated
A Heart-Shaped Beauty for Every Plant Lover
The Hoya Sweetheart Variegated (Hoya kerrii variegata) is as charming as it sounds. With its thick, heart-shaped leaves edged in creamy white or yellow, this adorable plant is a symbol of love and natural beauty. Often sold as a single “heart leaf” in small pots, it’s the perfect gift for plant lovers, romantic occasions, or anyone who appreciates unique greenery. Beyond its cuteness, this slow-growing succulent is incredibly easy to care for, thanks to its water-storing leaves and drought tolerance. It thrives in bright spaces and adds a delightful touch of personality to shelves, desks, or windowsills.
Note: The single heart-shaped leaf is a cutting without a stem node, meaning it will stay as a “leaf” and not grow into a vine. For a fully vining plant, make sure to find one with an established stem, like in our 6" planter.
Plant Details:
- Mature Height: Cuttings stay 2-4 inches, vining sizes (6" planter only) may extend to 10 feet (as a vine, with proper support and care)
- Mature Width: Vining Plant
- Sun Exposure: Bright, indirect light; some gentle morning sun is beneficial
- Water Needs: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings; water sparingly
- Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts to normal household levels
- Temperature: 65–80°F (18–27°C); avoid cold drafts
- Botanical Name: Hoya kerrii variegata
- Common Names: Variegated Hoya Sweetheart, Heart Leaf Hoya, Sweetheart Plant, Heart Succulent, Sweetheart Succulent
Why You’ll Love It
The Variegated Hoya Sweetheart "Heart Plant" is not just another cute plant—it’s a low-maintenance succulent with a long lifespan and stunning visual appeal. Its heart-shaped leaves are thick, glossy, and edged with creamy variegation that makes each one feel like a little work of art.
While some of our variants are sold as a single heart-shaped cutting (3" and 4" planters), the 6" planter variant of this Hoya Heart Plant can grow into a vining plant that adds soft, trailing charm to any corner of your home. Hang it from a planter, let it climb with support, or enjoy its tidy look as a small potted accent.
Care Tip: Hoya Sweetheart thrives on neglect—water sparingly and avoid soggy soil. It loves bright, filtered light, which helps maintain its stunning variegation.
Whether you’re gifting it as a token of love or adding it to your collection for its unique look, the Variegated Hoya Sweetheart is a plant that will steal hearts and bring joy for years to come.
